DMDM hydantoin is an antimicrobial formaldehyde releaser preservative with the trade name Glydant.
Glydant is an organic compound belonging to a class of compounds known as hydantoins.
Glydant is used in the cosmetics industry and found in products like shampoos, hair conditioners, hair gels, and skin care products.
Glydant slowly releases formaldehyde and works as a preservative by making the environment less favorable to microorganisms.
Glydant is used as preservative in a broad number of household and industrial cleaners to prevent spoilage from microorganisms, and Glydant is a concentrated industrial preservative that can be used in a broad number of H, I & I formulations to prevent product spoilage.
Glydant is a preservative that is used in the production of many products, including personal care products and pharmaceuticals.
Glydant is an antimicrobial agent that inhibits microbial growth by interfering with the microorganism's cell membrane.
This chemical also has a low toxicity to humans and other mammals.
Glydant has been shown to inhibit the growth of bacteria in wastewater treatment plants and can be used to prevent the spread of infectious diseases.
Glydant also has antibacterial properties against some strains of Staphylococcus aureus, such as methicillin-resistant strains (MRSA).
Glydant is often found in hair conditioners, shampoos, and other cosmetic products.
Glydant can be absorbed through the skin or ingested orally.
Although Glydant is not classified as carcinogenic, Glydant may cause contact dermatitis or alopecia areata because of Glydant's ability to inhibit prostaglandin synthesis in animal studies.

Glydant is an effective cosmetic preservative.
Glydant is a popular preservative with moderate sensitizing potential, Glydant is used to control against mold, mildew, and bacterial spoilage.
This preservative is similar to imidazolidinyl urea, as both act by releasing formaldehyde into the formulation.
Cosmetic expert panels have determined that Glydant has an excellent safety record for use in both leave-on and washoff cosmetic preparations.
Maximum-use concentrations are set at 0.2 percent in the u.S. and 0.6 percent in the european union.
Glydant stands for dimethylimidazolidine, though in a listing the acronym is rarely spelled out.
Durable and regenerable antibacterial fabrics were prepared by using an innovative chemical technology employing a precursor biocidal agent, in a chemical finishing process.
