GROTAN

CAS: 4719-04-4
European Community (EC) Number: 225-208-0
IUPAC Name: 2-[3,5-bis(2-hydroxyethyl)-1,3,5-triazinan-1-yl]ethanol
Molecular Formula: C9H21N3O3
DESCRIPTION:
Grotan is the pure reaction product of paraformaldehyde and 2-hydroxypropylamine (ratio 3:2); [MBO]
Grotan is suitable for use in water-mixed metalworking fluids, metalworking fluid concentrates and other technical emulsions.
Grotan is Bactericide used to kill bacteria, mold and fungus, as the presence or growth of these organisms in a water-based slurry can be detrimental to both the performance and life of the slurry.
Water dilutable soluble oil, semi-synthetic and synthetic metalworking fluid systems are highly susceptible to the growth of microorganisms.
Microbial contamination can result in slime generation, gas formation, malodors and the reduction or drift of pH in the fluid concentrate and the working dilution.
This contamination can diminish fluid performance and system efficiency, which can increase costs, decrease tool life, reduce productivity and cause machine shut-down.
The use of Grotan, a proven high quality preservative to control biodeterioration, will help maintain product functionality and increase the life of the metalworking fluid.

BENEFITS OF GROTAN:
Grotan has Bactericidal effect.
Grotan is Broad, balanced spectrum of effect (incl. sulphate-reducing bacteria).
Grotan is Good immediate effect.
Grotan is Good anticorrosion properties.
Grotan Contains no nitrate, nitrosing agents or organically bound chlorine (has no effect on the AOX value).
GROTAN is extensively used worldwide for the routine treatment of metalworking fluids.
Its history dates back more than 30 years and it is widely used by both formulators and endusers of metalworking fluids to prevent microbial contamination.
GROTAN should be used to maintain a concentration of 0.15% (1500 ppm) in the fluid.
For best results, before adding fresh fluid, drain and clean the system.
