Guanidine carbonate is employed as a strong organic alkali, organic intermediate, in soap and cosmetic products, and in the textile industry. 
Guanidine carbonate is also used to make fine chemicals and in consumer hair relaxer products. 
Guanidine carbonate is used in various industries to solve different purpose such as cosmetics as a hair relaxer that straightens hair by chemically uncurling it, detergents as a synergistic agent, pharmaceuticals as an antibiotic and microencapsulation process for carbonless paper.

Guanidine Carbonate is an alkaline, organic salt. 
Guanidine Carbonate’s primary functions have been for use in formulations for hair straightening, as a depilatory agent, for use in pH adjustment, and as a buffering agent.

As a strong chemical base, guanidine carbonate is used as an intermediary in a variety of applications:

• Chemicals, in the production of guanidine nitrate; flame retardant in technical textiles
• Cosmetics, as a hair relaxer that straightens hair by chemically uncurling it
