Hexyloxylethanol is a solvent used in speciality printing inks and coalescing aids in surface coatings, coupling agent, rust remover, adhesives and surface cleaners.
Hexyloxylethanol  is a commercial repellent against Xenopsylla cheopis.
Hexyloxylethanol  is used as coatingsand detergents
Hexyloxylethanol is used as coalescing agent in latex paints and cleaners; colouring agent and as a component of cleaning/washing agents; and high boiling solvent.

PRODUCTION
Hexyloxylethanol  is produced by the reaction of ethylene oxide with 1-hexanol (product is isolated from the reaction mixt by vacuum distillation).
