GENERAL DESCRIPTION & APPLICATIONS of HOSTAPUR OS LIQUID
Ionic surfactants which contain hydrophobic hydrocarbon group connected with one or several hydrophilic groups dissociate into a positively charged cation and a negatively charged anion in an aqueous solution. If the head is negatively charged to carry the surface active properties, it is called anionic surfactant, whereas a positively charged head is the carrier of the surface active properties in cationic surfactants. Typically cationic surfactants are based on the nitrogen atom carrying the cationic charge such as amine and quaternary ammonium product.
Cationic surfactant is considered to be poor cleaners but it contributes to the fabric softening, the disinfecting properties, and the grease-water interfacial tension reducing. Cationic surfactants include quaternary ammonium compounds, amines (primary, secondary, tertiary, diamines, polyamines, amine salts), imidazoline compounds, betaine compounds, and esterquats.
Anionic surfactant is the widely used type of surface active agent for laundry detergents, liquid cleaners and shampoos due to excellent cleaning properties particularly effective at oily soil cleaning and oil/clay soil suspension. Anionic surfactants are deactivated in many hard water. To prevent deactivation, builders should be dosed. Anionic surfactant is used as a emulsifier in cosmetics, tooth paste, cream, shampoo, and acrylic binder. Common soap is an anionic surfactant. Carboxylate, sulfate, sulfonate and phosphate are the polar groups in anionic surfactants. Anionic surfactants include alkyl benzene sulfonate, fatty acid salts, sodium lauryl sulfate, alkyl sulfate salts, sodium lauryl ether sulfate, alpha-olefin sulfonates, phosphate esters, sulphosuccinates, alkyl phenol ether sulfates, and isethionates.
Sodium Alpha Olefin Sulfonate (Hostapur OS liquid) is used as a foaming agent combining cleaning activity for liquid soaps, washing compounds and liquid detergents. It provides acid resistance and biodegrability. It is used in emulsion polymerization.
Alpha Olefin (Hostapur OS liquid) is an olefin featured by the position of solid bond (reactive unsaturation) at the two end carbons in carbon chains. Alpha olefins (Hostapur OS liquid) and their derivatives are used as comonomers in polymer such as low density polyethylenes for the properties of lighter, thinner, better flexibility and more tearing resistance. They are used in the production of linear plasticizers, oxo-alcohols, motor fuels, lubricants, automotive additives, biodegradble surfactants, paper size, and in a wide range of specialty applications in the production of mercaptans, flavors and fragrances, alkyl metals, halides, alkyl silanes of hostapur OS liquid.

Storage and handling
Hostapur OS liquid can be stored for at least 12 months in original sealed containers at room temperature under the recommended conditions. During longer storage the pH of the product may drop due to hydrolysis. Prolonged storage at temperatures > 30 °C can lead to gel formation on the surface of the product, in particular in drums and containers. After stirring the gel phase is destroyed and the product is again ready to use. If product is stored at a temperature of < 20 °C, the active substance may precipitate. The product can be re-homogenized by stirring and heating. It is not recommended to heat the product above 50 °C.

Hostapur OS liquid is a mild anionic surfactant with excellent viscosity and foam characteristics. Washing powders: Based on detergency test result, both LAS and AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) showed good synergy in phosphorus-containing and non-phosphorus powders. In phosphate-free washing powders with LAS and AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) as anionic active ingredients, the detergency of AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) is significantly increased when the active content is more than 20%. The detergency synergy of AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) in non-phosphorus washing powder is more oustanding than that in phosphorus-containing powder. AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) has a good compatibility with enzyme. The detergency power of AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) and LAS is not much different at high temperatures and long-term washing (eg above 60°C, washing for 1 hour). However, AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) shows higher detergency performance than LAS when used under room temperature (10-40°C for 10-29 minutes). Compared with LAS, AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) features stronger hard water resistance. AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) shows a very good stain removal performance on sebum dirt and oily and powdery stain.
Application of soap: Adding AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) can increase the solubility of soap in water, wetting power and foam strength of soap at low temperatures can also be increased significantly (Hostapur OS liquid) improves various properties of the soap, enhances foaming power, increases hard water resistance and flexibility.
Liquid detergent application: Due to the greater irritation of LAS, many detergents do not use LAS as an active ingredient, while AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) has a low irritative property and good biodegradability, making it a more suitable alternative.
Personal care application: The mildness of AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) is comparable to that of AES, while LAS and AES are much more irritating than AOS (Hostapur OS liquid). Thus AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) has a wide range of use in personal care products. AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) is extremely stable under acidic conditions, and normal human skin is weakly acidic (pH about 5.5), so it is suitable to use AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) as a component of personal washing products. Shampoos with AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) as the main active ingredient are more foamable than with K12.
Other applications: AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) has a wide range of applications in the textile printing and dyeing industry, petrochemicals, tertiary oil recovery, and industrial cleaning. Hostapur OS liquid can also be used as a concrete density improver, foam wallboard, fire-fighting foaming agent. Hostapur OS liquid can also be used as an emulsifier, wetting agent, etc.
A detergent active of the anionic class Hostapur OS liquid . An effective emulsifier and has excellent foaming characteristics. compatible with other surfactants. Suitable as an active for general detergent products such as detergent cakes and powders, toilet and laundry soa, Car wash soap, car washing compounds, Hand dish wash, pot and pan cleaners, Hard surface cleansers, Household and industrial detergents, Laundry detergents, Personal Care Products
Alpha Olefin Sulfonate 40% (Hostapur OS liquid) is a formaldehyde free solution of sodium C14-C16 alpha olefin sulfonate preserved with MCI/MI. Hostapur OS liquid can be used in variety of applications due to its excellent viscosity, hard water stability, detergency, foam characteristics, and pH stability over a broad pH range. Hostapur OS liquid is a milder surfactant compared to lauryl sulfates and is used in high performing sulfate-free, shampoos, body wash, hand soap and pet care formulations. It is highly effective in unloading undesirable liquids and particulates from gas producing wells and exhibits exceptional thermal stability up to 400° F. This product is readily biodegradable.
Non-sulfate anionic surfactants are often used in cleansing products for personal care, hard surfaces, laundry and industrial applications. In personal care alone, they range in variety; although notably, cleansers with added hair color-retention benefits and formulas positioned for the hair, scalp and body represent the segments in highest demand. Due to these broad product applications, customizable performance attributes and biodegradability, the use of alpha olefin sulfonate (Hostapur OS liquid) surfactants has increased dramatically.
The most common AOS (Hostapur OS liquid) used in personal care is sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate, which functions as a detergent, wetting agent and emulsifier depending on the application. When properly formulated, sodium C14-16 olefin sulfonate imparts viscosity, a consumer-acceptable foaming profile and quick flash foam to produce a stable lather, among other benefits.
In addition, the surfactant maintains performance at alkaline and acidic ranges, allowing flexibility for formulators. Hostapur OS liquid stability is attributed to the sulfonate groups covalently bonded to a carbon; conversely, sulfate-based surfactants tend to hydrolyze below pH 4 due to inorganic ester bonds that cleave and yield a sulfate anion and an alcohol. The pH stability of C14-16 olefin sulfonate (Hostapur OS liquid) has generated additional interest over lauryl sulfates and lauryl ether sulfates for both claims and performance. Hostapur OS liquid also allows the material to be provided as a preservative-free aqueous solution, using excess alkalinity for preservation.
