Hydroxyethyl cellulose is a gelling and thickening agent derived from cellulose. It is widely used in cosmetics, cleaning solutions, and other household products.
Hydroxyethylcellulose and methylcellulose are often used with hydrophobic drugs in capsules to improve the dissolution of drugs in gastrointestinal fluids.
This process is known as hydrophilization. Hydroxyethyl cellulose is also widely used in the oil and gas industry as an additive to drilling mud called HEC.
as well as in industrial applications, paints and coatings, ceramics, adhesives, emulsion polymerization, inks, construction, welding rods, pencils and
filler joints.
