DESCRIPTION

Hydroxylated lanolin is a Light brown paste.
Hydroxylated lanolin is derived from Lanolin which is a wax.
The hydroxylation of Lanolin involves the addition of two hydroxyl groups across a double-bond.
The resulting compound is a glycol (dial).
Lanolin is mixed with acetic acid, hydrogen peroxide and sulfuric acid (catalyst).

The active reactant, peracetic acid (acetyl hydroperoxide), is formed in situ in the reaction medium and is consumed immediately as it is generated.
Peracetic acid mediates the opening of the unsaturated bond and the concomitant addition of two hydroxyl groups.
The introduction of highly polar hydroxyl groups renders Hydroxylated Lanolin more hydrophilic than Lanolin.
Hydroxylated lanolin becomes more amphoteric resulting in increased inter-facial and surface activities.
Hydroxylated Lanolin is superior to Lanolin in forming stable w/o emulsions.

Hydroxylated lanolin's melting range is 39 to 46°C.
Hydroxylated lanolin is an excellent water in oil emulsifier for a wide range of applications.
Hydroxylated lanolin's adhesion properties coupled with its pigment dispersion properties make it ideally suited for long wear color cosmetic products.
Hydroxylated lanolin is formed by the attachment of two hydroxyl (OH) groups to the lanolin chain.
Hydroxylated lanolin is more hydrophilic (water-loving) than basic lanolin.
As a result, Hydroxylated lanolin creates more stable W / O emulsions.
Hydroxylated lanolin is A substance of natural origin, a semi-synthetic substance, a substance of various origin.
Hydroxylated lanolin is obtained by controlled hydroxylation of lanolin.
