IRON OXIDE PIGMENTS
DESCRIPTION
Synonyms:  iron oxide, iron oxide dyes, pigment red 130, pigment yellow 313, pigment black 722, pigment brown 686, pigment brown 660, pigments based on iron oxide.

Iron oxide pigments belong to the group of inorganic pigments. They are fine iron oxide powders that are used for dyeing plastics, rubber, chemical fibers, making paints, etc.

The raw materials for the production of iron oxide pigments are various iron-containing minerals, as well as waste from metallurgical industries.

The chemical composition of the finished products determines the color of the pigment: iron oxide hydrate forms a yellow pigment, iron oxide - red, nitrous oxide - black. Brown pigment is a mixture of hydrated iron oxide with yellow and red pigments.

Iron oxide pigments, in comparison with natural and organic ones, have a lower dispersion, insufficient brightness. At the same time, their main advantages are high resistance to ultraviolet light, weathering, good hiding power, high chemical resistance to the action of weak solutions of acids and alkalis.

Cathay Industries is one of the world's top three iron oxide pigments producers. At its facilities in China, Australia, USA and Belgium, it produces more than 200 thousand tons per year.

Application

Iron oxide pigments are used in the production of dry building mixtures, paving slabs, grouting mixtures and masonry mortars, as well as in the production of plastics and weather-resistant paints and varnishes. Fine grades can be used in the production of printing inks, varnishes for wood.

There are three main product groups in the Cathay Industries range of pigments for paints and varnishes:
Grades "C" are the coarsest forms of iron oxide pigments. Recommended for the production of soil primarily;
"S" grades are standard grades for use in weatherproof architectural and industrial coatings;
Grades “A” are micronized pigments that allow to reduce the grinding time in a bead mill, and in some cases even to exclude the grinding stage completely.

Depending on the group and brand, pigments can be spherical, needle-shaped or irregular. The moisture content of all pigments is less than 1%.

Packing: iron oxide pigments are packed in 25 kg paper bags.
