*Skin-conditioning agent - Emollient.
Emollients have the characteristic of enhancing the skin barrier through a source of exogenous lipids that adhere to the skin, improving barrier properties by filling gaps in intercorneocyte clusters to improve hydration while protecting against inflammation.

In practice, they have the ability to create a barrier that prevents transepidermal water loss.
Emollients are described as degreasing or refreshing additives that improve the lipid content of the upper layers of the skin by preventing degreasing and drying of the skin.

The problem with emollients is that many have a strong lipophilic character and are identified as occlusive ingredients; they are oily and fatty materials that remain on the skin surface and reduce transepidermal water loss.
In cosmetics, emollients and moisturisers are often considered synonymous with humectants and occlusives.

*Antistatic agent.
Static electricity build-up has a direct influence on products and causes electrostatic adsorption.
The antistatic ingredient, Isononyl Isononanoate, reduces static build-up and surface resistivity on the surface of the skin and hair.

*Skin conditioning agent.
Isononyl Isononanoate is the mainstay of topical skin treatment as it has the function of restoring, increasing or improving skin tolerance to external factors, including melanocyte tolerance.

The most important function of the conditioning agent is to prevent skin dehydration, but the subject is rather complex and involves emollients and humectants that can be added in the formulation.
Isononyl Isononanoate is used in skin care products, oily powder, foundation cream.

IUPAC-like / systematic name: 3,5,5-trimethylhexyl 3,5,5-trimethylhexanoate
CAS number(s) reported in suppliers / databases: 59219-71-5 (commonly cited);
other vendor pages sometimes list 42131-25-9 as an alternative identifier

EC / EINECS number: 261-665-2 (appears in ECHA / REACH/COSING listings)
Molecular formula: commonly reported as C18H36O2
Molecular weight (approx.): ≈ 284.48 g·mol⁻¹
Appearance: Clear, colorless to pale yellow liquid
State at 20 °C: Liquid (very low freezing point).
Reported melting / freezing point often < −20 °C or < −40 °C depending on source/form
Density / specific gravity: ~0.85–0.87 g·cm⁻³ at 20 °C (typical supplier spec: 0.85–0.87)
Boiling point: literature/supplier values vary (estimates in the ~285–390 °C range depending on method/pressure —
many supplier sheets list ~285–290 °C @760 mmHg or show higher theoretical decomposition/boiling ranges)

Flash point: reported around ~136 °C (TCC) (supplier/MSDS estimates)
Vapor pressure: very low at 25 °C (practically non-volatile compared with short chain esters)
Solubility: Practically insoluble in water (very low aqueous solubility — µg/L range estimated);
readily soluble in oils, esters, silicones and nonpolar solvents
LogP / lipophilicity: strongly lipophilic (high logP, reported estimates vary —
consistent with oily emollient behaviour)
Viscosity & feel: low viscosity, good spreadability,
low freezing point (remains fluid at low temperatures),
lends a silky, non-greasy skin feel

Stability: chemically stable under normal cosmetic formulation conditions
(avoid strong hydrolytic/acidic/alkaline extremes if formulation stability is required)
SMILES: CC(CCOC(=O)CC(C)CC(C)(C)C)CC(C)(C)C
