LAURETH-2

CAS Number: 68439-50-9
EC Number: 500-213-3
Molecular Formula: (C2H4O)1-3(CH2)10-12C2H6O

LAURETH-2 is a surfactant and a thickner.
As surfactant LAURETH-2 helps to reduce surface tension of substances to be mixed or emulsified.

In cosmetics LAURETH-2 helps water to be mixed with oil, sebum and dirt so that they can be easily rinsed away.
Moreover as thickener LAURETH-2 helps to adjust the thickness of our products.

LAURETH-2 is a PEG ether of lauryl alcohol.

LAURETH-2 uses and applications include:
Surfactant, emulsifier, foaming agent, superfatting agent) for cosmetics.
Solubilizer for solvents; base for production of sulfates.
Raw material for dishwashing, cleansing agents and cold cleaners.
Emulsion polymerization.
In coning and textile spin finishes.
Thickener, emulsifier, solubilizer for pharmaceuticals.

In general, LAURETH-2 group is characterized by the following properties:
LAURETH-2 has high surface activity and detergency,
LAURETH-2 shows synergistic effects with other surfactants,

LAURETH-2 has good hard water stability,
LAURETH-2 has chemical stability over a wide pH range,

LAURETH-2 is produced from a natural-based, renewable raw material,
LAURETH-2 has low environmental impact as a result of rapid and complete biodegradation.

Uses of LAURETH-2:
LAURETH-2 (C12-14 fatty alcohol ethoxylates) is nonionic surfactant.
LAURETH-2 is alkyl polyethylene glycol ether made from saturated native fatty alcohol.

Thus C-chain of LAURETH-2 is linear and even numbered.
LAURETH-2 provides good wetting and emulsification properties with a good soil removal property.

LAURETH-2 has multiple industrial uses and applications including:
LAURETH-2 is used as a wetting agent to reduce the surface tension in liquids, and as an emulsifier in paints and coatings to promote dispersion.

Personal Care:
LAURETH-2 works extremely well as a foam adjusting agent in personal care products such as shampoos and bath gels.

Soaps and Detergents:
LAURETH-2 serves as a reliable wetting agent in a wide range of industrial and household cleaning products including detergents, laundry pre-spotters and hard surface cleaners.

Surfactants and Esters:
You can use LAURETH-2 as a surfactant intermediate — LAURETH-2 can also be sulfonated to make SLES (Sodium Lauryl Ether Sulfate), an anionic surfactant and detergent used in the manufacturing of many personal care products.

Textiles:
LAURETH-2 is used as a wetting agent in textile and leather processing applications to reduce surface tension.

LAURETH-2 can be stored for at least to 2 years in original sealed containers at room temperature under the recommended conditions.
Protect from exposure to cold during transport and storage.

The properties of LAURETH-2 are reversibly altered by exposure to cold.
LAURETH-2 becomes turbid, thickens or freezes through exposure to cold, thaw slowly at room temperature and afterwards stir briefly.

Functions of LAURETH-2:
Solvents,
Surfactant,
Emulsifier,
Raw Material.

Application of LAURETH-2:
LAURETH-2 is used as a nonionic emulsifier for the preparations of oil and cream baths.
LAURETH-2 is a clear to light turbid liquid.

Body wash and care agents,
Hair washing, care, colouring and styling agents,
Face washing and care preparations (moisturizing creams, facial scrubs, anti-acne creams),
Colour cosmetics,
Perfumes,
Detergents for household use.

Advantages of LAURETH-2:
LAURETH-2 has ability to thicken cosmetic formulations,
LAURETH-2 has the ability to solubilize perfumes and active ingredients,

LAURETH-2 is compatible with non-ionic, anionic and cationic surfactants,
LAURETH-2 is resistant to acids and alkalis,

LAURETH-2 is resistant to oxidizing agents, reducing agents and hard water,
LAURETH-2 is biodegradable.
