LICOCENE PP 1302 water absorption of a specific polymer grade (Licocene PP 1302, dropping point 87-93 °C; available from Clariant) was determined according to the following procedure which is based on ASTM D570:1998.
The powdery Licocene PP 1302 was molten in a glass mould having bores with a diameter of 25 mm and a depth of 2.0 mm on a hot plate at a temperature of about 150 °C.
The mould of Licocene PP 1302 was allowed to cool, the disc-shaped samples were removed from the mould, dried under vacuum at a temperature of 60 °C, allowed to cool and stored in a desiccator.
The weight of Licocene PP 1302 each sample was determined.
The samples were immersed in distilled water at a temperature of 23 °C for a period of 24 hours, removed from the water and tapped dry with a lint-free cloth.
The weight of each sample was determined and the water absorption (i.e. the relative weight increase) was calculated as a percentage according to the following formula.
Licocene PP 1302 can be seen that Licocene PP 1302 has a water absorption of less than 0.5 %.

LICOCENE is a low-molecular-weight transparent polyolefin material catalyzed by a metallocene catalyst, called "metallocene wax", which can be used as the main material of hot melt adhesives, or as a tackifier, wax, and some Special hot melt adhesives, such as high temperature resistance, low sizing temperature, bonding difficult-to-stick materials, etc.
The most special thing about this polyolefin wax is that its characteristics can be optimized and tailored to meet the needs of different applications.
METALLOCENE PROPYLENE WAXs wax product line includes polyethylene waxes and mainly focuses on polypropylene waxes and copolymers.
Compared with other companies' METALLOCENE PROPYLENE WAXs, Clariant's wax products have an excellent price-performance ratio.
They have been proven to be very effective as dispersants in color masterbatches, binders, sealants and composite glass fiber coatings.
These make it applicable to plastics, the automotive industry and several other industries.
This is also the first time that important METALLOCENE PROPYLENE WAX characteristics such as hardness, melting point and viscosity can be adjusted in a wide range through unlimited combinations.
For customers, their ability to control product production and application characteristics increases.
Moreover, chemical modification of metallocene wax can further expand its multi-functional applicability.
The biggest advantage of using metallocene catalysts is that they can be "customized".
The molecular structure of the metallocene catalyst is like a sandwich, it is like a template, and different new wax products can be produced by modifying the metallocene.
Of course, LICOCENE PP 1302 works best when applied to polypropylene wax.
So far, LICOCENE PP 1302 has been impossible to obtain some new products produced by metallocene modification using traditional methods.
