LUDIGOL

CAS: 127-68-4
Molecular Formula:    C6H5NNaO5S+
Molecular Weight: 226.16
IUPAC Name: sodium;3-nitrobenzenesulfonic acid

DESCRIPTION:
Ludigol is a brand name for m-nitrobenzene sulfonic acid, sodium salt.
Ludigol is Aqueous solution of inorganic salts.
Mild, anionic oxidizing agent for dyeing with disperse dyes that are sensitive to reduction, especially in fully flooded machines and with PES/CV blends.
Ludigol is oxidizing agent for the textile industry.
Ludigol is auxiliary for preventing undesirable reduction of reactive dyes and for reoxidizing dyeings with vat dyes.
Ludigol prevents deterioration of dyes during boil-off of coloured bleach goods.
Strength relationship of granules to liquid type: 100:20.
Ludigol Granules are non-dusting.

APPLICATIONS OF LUDIGOL:
Ludigol is a reagent in the synthesis of azetidinyl ketolides for treatment of susceptible and multidrug resistant community-acquired respiratory tract infections.
Ludigol ensures that the colorant remains fresh longer and that more dye can react with the fabric, making the colours brighter.
Ludigol  is used in tie-dye, silk painting or directly applied dye methods.
Ludigol  is a very important ingredient when working with deep shades.
Ludigol is considered by many users as indispensable when working with fibre reactive dyes such as  Procion MX powder or vinylsulfone liquid dyes on silk and then steaming the work.
The mild oxidising agent prevents liquid or powder reactive dyes from decomposing when fixed by heat, e.g. when steamed or microwaved, making them duller.

Ludigol is used in tie dyeing or other direct application dyeing.
Ludigol  is generally not used in solid color dyeing.
Reactive type dyes slowly break down once they’re mixed with water, and over time the dye becomes less effective.
Soon the dye solution will lose all effectiveness.
Ludigol is added to the dye to keep the dye from breaking down in the water at higher.
Ludigol keeps the dye fresher longer, and allows more dye to react with the fabric, helping the colors to come out brighter.
Ludigol is a mild oxidizing agent that helps to prevent dyes from decomposing (being "reduced" - a chemistry teacher question) during fixation, which causes them to be duller.
Ludigol is a very important ingredient when working with deep shades and is considered to be essential by some when working on silk when painting with Fiber Reactive dyes like Procion MX or Vinyl Suphon Liquid Reactive Dyes and then steaming the work.

Its use is to protect fiber reactive dye from being chemically reduced, which is generally considered to be significant only at higher temperatures; its use is optional at room temperature.
Its effect, when Ludigol is truly needed, is to make dye colors brighter, improving the yield by preventing their inactivation before they can bind to the fiber.
