Madame Quat appears as a clear colorless liquid.
Less dense than water and insoluble in water.
Vapors heavier than air and corrosive to eyes and mucous membranes.
Madame Quat may polymerize exothermically if heated or contaminated.
If polymerization takes place inside a closed container, the container may rupture violently.
Madame Quat produces toxic oxides of nitrogen during combustion.
Toxic by skin absorption, ingestion and inhalation.
Used to make plastics and in textiles.

Madame Quat is a 2-dimethylaminoethyl methacrylate grade.
Madame Quat is a mono-functional methacrylate with a tertiary amino group in the side chain.
Madame Quat is ideal for improving adhesion of formulations.
Madame Quat is registered and listed within REACH.
Madame Quat is an unsaturated carboxylic acid ester having a tertiary amino group.
Quaternized 2-Dimethylaminoethyl is a colorless to yellowish, water-miscible liquid with a pungent, amine-like odor.
Quaternized 2-Dimethylaminoethyl is an important acrylic monomer that gives basic properties to copolymers.

Quaternized 2-Dimethylaminoethyl was block copolymerized in turn with three other tertiary amine methacrylate comonomers, namely, 2-(diethylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DEA), 2-(diisopropylamino)ethyl methacrylate (DPA), and 2-(N-morpholino)ethyl methacrylate (MEMA), using group transfer polymerization.
The Quaternized 2-Dimethylaminoethyl residues of each of these diblock copolymers were selectively quaternized using both methyl iodide and benzyl chloride under mild conditions to yield a series of novel cationic diblock copolymers that exhibit reversible pH-, salt-, and temperature-induced micellization in aqueous media

Description OF Madame Quat
Colorless to light yellow liquid; [ICSC] Clear light yellow liquid

Uses of Madame Quat
Used in binders for coatings, textile chemicals, dispersing agents for non-aqueous systems, antistatic agents, stabilizers for chlorinated polymers, ion exchange resins, emulsifying agents, cationic precipitating agents, dental materials, antithrombogenic prosthetics, and cosmetics; Used as comonomer (for polymers used in water treatment, architectural paints, viscosity index improvers, and adhesives), monomer for its homopolymer, and to make its acetate and nitrate salts.
Madame Quat is an acrylic acid ester carrying a functional group with basic properties.
Madame Quat therefore reacts as an α, β-unsaturated carbonyl compound in an addition reaction with nucleophiles in a Michael addition.
As a reactive monomer, Madame Quat forms homopolymers and copolymers with acrylic acid and acrylic acid salts, amides and esters, as well as methacrylates, acrylonitrile, maleic acid esters, vinyl acetate, chloroethene (vinyl chloride), 1,1-dichloroethene, styrene, 1,3-butadiene, unsaturated polyesters and drying oils.
In copolymers, DMAEA improves their nucleophilicity, basicity, water solubility and adhesion to polar negatively charged substrates, as well as dyeability of acrylic fibers with anionic dyes.
Such copolymers are used as resins and paints, coatings and adhesives, as well as hair spray.
The most significant use for DMAEA is the quaternization with alkylating agents (for example chloromethane, dimethyl sulfate or benzyl chloride) to the quaternary ammonium salt.
The most important compound is the reaction product with methyl chloride, trimethylammonium ethyl acrylate chloride.
Madame Quat has the most pronounced cationic properties of all acrylates and is traded as an 80% aqueous solution.
Copolymerization of trimethylammoniumethyl acrylate chloride with acrylamide leads to high molecular weight cationic polyacrylamides, which are widely used as coagulants and flocculants in waste water purification and as retention and dewatering agents in papermaking.

CHEMICAL PROPERTIE of Madame Quat
Madame Quat is soluble in water, ethanol and isopropanol, and insoluble in esters, ketones and hydrocarbons.
Madame Quat features a good resistance to hydrolysis, for pH values not exceeding 7.
Madame Quat can be polymerised in solution, suspension or emulsion, using a free radical type catalyst (e.g. peroxydes, redox system, azo compounds).
Madame Quat is a cationic monomer, which can be homopolymerised and copolymerised with other monomers, such as MADAME, ADAME, acrylamide, methacrylamide, N-methylolacrylamide, acrylonitrile, methyl acrylate, methyl methacrylate, styrene, acrylic and methacrylic acids.
This gives polymers with quaternary ammonium groups, hence high polarity and strong affinity for anionic substances.
Such properties can be used in various applications :
manufacture of flocculating agents to clarify water
containing solids in suspension
anti-static coatings
conductive coatings
polymers additives, for dispersal of pigments and titanium dioxide
additives like flocculating or dispersing agents in pulp and
paper industry for filtration improvement
improvement of the tinctorial properties of acrylic and cellulose fibers.

Properties of Madame Quat
Chemical formula: C7H13NO2
Molar mass: 143.19 g·mol−1
Appearance: yellowish liquid with a pungent, amine-like odor
Solubility in water: soluble in water (240 g/l[1]) upon hydrolysis, miscible with organic solvents

Properties of Madame Quat
Madame Quat is a clear, colorless to slightly yellowish liquid with a pungent amine-like odor.
Madame Quatis miscible with water, reacts bases and hydrolyzes rapidly to acrylic acid and dimethylaminoethanol.
Madame Quat can form ignitable mixtures with air. DMAEA tends to spontaneously polymerize at elevated temperatures, upon irradiation, and in the presence of free-radical initiators.
Madame Quat must therefore be adequately stabilized, stored in a dry and cool place (<25 °C).
Madame Quat is very toxic because of its high inhalation toxicity.
