MELAPUR MC = MELAMINE CYANURATE

CAS Number: 37640-57-6
EC Number: 253-575-7
MDL Number: MFCD00137334
Formula: C3H6N6 . C3H3N3O3

Melapur MC is a salt of melamine and cyanuric acid.
Melapur MC has a higher thermal stability than pure melamine, remaining stable up to about 320ºC.
For this reason, Melapur MC is often applied in polymers with higher processing temperatures.
Above 320ºC, Melapur MC undergoes endothermic decomposition to melamine and cyanuric acid, acting as a heat sink in the process.
The vaporized Melapur MC acts as an inert gas source diluting the oxygen and the fuel gases present at the point of combustion.

Examples of suitable polymers: all nitrogenbased polymers such as polyamide 66, 6, 11, 12, thermoplastic polyurethane and polyurethane

Melapur MC , melamine cyanurate, is a kind of high effective nitrogen halogen free flame retardant.

Melapur MC is very stable when the temperature is lower than 300℃.
Sublimation will happen when the temperature is above 350℃.
The decomposition temperature of MCA-10 is 440℃~450℃. MCA-10 is in high content of nitrogen, and it will dehydrate to carbon while in high temperature, and Melapur MC will also release N₂, CO₂ and water while burning.
The flame retardancy takes effect through absorbing heat and releasing incombustible gases after sublimation.
Melapur MC's high efficiency, low corrosivity, high compatibility with PA and good colourability allow the production of compounds that shows also good combination of electrical and mechanical properties, low density and low smokes density.
