DESCRIPTION

Melment F 10 is free-flowing spray dried powder of a sulphonated polycondensation product based on melamine. Superplasticizer for cement and calcium sulphate based materials.

Melment F 10 is a free-flowing, spray dried powder of a sulphonated polycondensation product based on melamine.

Characteristics / Chemistry of Melment F 10:

Melment F 10 is a free-flowing, spray dried powder of a sulphonated polycondensation product based on melamine.

Fields of Application:

Melment F 10 is especially optimized for plastification and water reduction of cement and calcium sulphate based materials, e.g.:
Self-levelling underlayments (SLU)
Feather-edge products
Non-shrink grouts
Cementitious floor screeds
Cementitious self-levelling floor screeds
Tile adhesives and joint fillers
Repair of mortar

Melment F 10 is used in high-performance superplasticizer for cement and calcium sulphate based materials.

How to mix with Cementitious Material:

Mix pre-mixed concrete or cement with Melment F 10 for a few minutes, then add water (mix at least 3-5 minutes).
You can also add Melment F 10 to the water 10-15 minutes prior to casting (until Melment F 10 dissolves in water), then mix with dry ingredients.

Please note:

Concrete minimum mixing time is 3 minutes with mechanical drill or 5 minutes with mortar mixer (it takes a few minutes until Melment F 10 absorbs into the cement and start reaction).
Melment F 10 recommended dosage 0.20-2% by Cement weight.
We recommend to start with 2% by cement weight, then lower the dosage as needed.

Melment F 10 is a sulfonated melamine powder superplasticizer, suitable for cement-based or gypsum based mortar with high fluidity and high strength requirement.
Further, Melment F 10 is widely applied in mortar, gypsum industry.

Performance of Melment F 10:

Good water reducing rate, low air entraining, low chloride content, and good adaptability to different types of cement.
Excellent film-forming ability.
Excellent color-permanence and color-retention.

Dosage:

Recommended dosage of Melment F 10 is 0.3-1.2% of cement based material, or 0.2-0.5% for gypsum based material.
Actual dosage depends on the test.
Melment F 10 is also available to consult our technicians.

Package & Storage of Melment F 10:

Paper and plastic compound bag with film liner.
Melment F 10 should be stored in a dedicated warehouse that is well-ventilated and dry and keep away from moisture.

Shelf life of Melment F 10:

Normally, the shelf life of Melment F 10 is 12 months.
Once exceeds the shelf life, Melment F 10 can be used after the approval of test.

FIRST AID

If this product comes in contact with the eyes:

Immediately hold eyelids apart and flush the eye continuously with running water.
Ensure complete irrigation of the eye by keeping eyelids apart and away from eye and moving the eyelids by occasionally lifting the upper
and lower lids.

Continue flushing until advised to stop by the Poisons Information Centre or a doctor, or for at least 15 minutes.
Transport to hospital or doctor without delay.
Removal of contact lenses after an eye injury should only be undertaken by skilled personnel.

Skin Contact

If skin contact occurs:
Immediately remove all contaminated clothing, including footwear.
Flush skin and hair with running water (and soap if available).
Seek medical attention in event of irritation.

Inhalation

If fumes or combustion products are inhaled remove from contaminated area.
Lay patient down.

Keep warm and rested.
Prostheses such as false teeth, which may block airway, should be removed, where possible, prior to initiating first aid procedures.

Apply artificial respiration if not breathing, preferably with a demand valve resuscitator, bag-valve mask device, or pocket mask as trained.
Perform CPR if necessary.
Transport to hospital, or doctor, without delay.

Ingestion

Immediately give a glass of water.
First aid is not generally required.
If in doubt, contact a Poisons Information Centre or a doctor.

SAFETY, STORAGE AND HANDLING

Safety

The usual safety precautions when handling chemicals must be observed.
These include the measures described in Federal, State and Local health and safety regulations, thorough ventilation
of the workplace, good skin care and wearing of protective goggles.
Material Safety Data Sheet All safety information is provided in the Material Safety Data Sheet for Melment F 10.
Transport Regulation Not known as a dangerous good according to transport regulations.

Storage

Melment F 10 has a shelf life of 2 years.
Melment F 10 is to be stored in its unopened original packaging, dry and cool (not exceeding (40˚C / 104˚F).

Handling

Avoid generation of static electricity.
Earth all lines and equipment.

Avoid all personal contact, including inhalation.
Wear protective clothing when risk of exposure occurs.
Use in a well-ventilated area.

Prevent concentration in hollows and sumps.
DO NOT enter confined spaces until atmosphere has been checked.
DO NOT allow material to contact humans, exposed food or food utensils.

Avoid contact with incompatible materials.
When handling, DO NOT eat, drink or smoke.

Organic powders when finely divided over a range of concentrations regardless of particulate size or shape and suspended in air or some
other oxidizing medium may form explosive dust-air mixtures and result in a fire or dust explosion (including secondary explosions).
Minimise airborne dust and eliminate all ignition sources. Keep away from heat, hot surfaces, sparks, and flame.

Establish good housekeeping practices.
Remove dust accumulations on a regular basis by vacuuming or gentle sweeping to avoid creating dust clouds.

Use continuous suction at points of dust generation to capture and minimise the accumulation of dusts.
Particular attention should be given to overhead and hidden horizontal surfaces to minimise the probability of a "secondary" explosion.

According to NFPA Standard 654, dust layers 1/32 in.(0.8 mm) thick can be sufficient to warrant immediate cleaning of the area.
Do not use air hoses for cleaning.

Store in original containers.
Keep containers securely sealed.
Store in a cool, dry area protected from environmental extremes.

Store away from incompatible materials and foodstuff containers.
Protect containers against physical damage and check regularly for leaks.
Observe manufacturer's storage and handling recommendations contained within this SDS.

For major quantities:

Consider storage in bunded areas - ensure storage areas are isolated from sources of community water (including stormwater, ground
water, lakes and streams}.
Ensure that accidental discharge to air or water is the subject of a contingency disaster management plan; this may require consultation with local authorities.
Heat and moisture will cause the powder to harden.
