MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11

MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11 is a commercial inorganic yellow pigment described in its technical literature as a stabilized monoclinic lead chromate grade. Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 is identified with Colour Index Pigment Yellow 34 and Colour Index Constitution Number 77603.

The documented applications of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 include paints, liquid printing inks, road-marking paints and suitable plastic masterbatch applications. The published application matrix also identifies leather pastes, linoleum, PVC leather cloth and paper coatings.

Formulators may evaluate Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 for its middle-chrome shade, dispersion behavior and documented light and heat test performance. Selection depends on the complete formulation and the legal suitability of a lead- and chromate-containing pigment for the intended market and use.

Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 belongs to an inorganic crystalline pigment family rather than a discrete organic dye molecule. Its published identity must be distinguished from the formula of pure lead chromate, because the complete composition and stabilization system of the commercial grade are not disclosed in the reviewed technical sheet.

CAS Number: 1344-37-2 is the reference for lead sulfochromate yellow associated with C.I. 77603; confirm the actual M-11 composition and identifiers in its current safety data sheet.
EC Number: 215-693-7 for lead sulfochromate yellow, C.I. 77603; the exact commercial-grade documentation governs.
Molecular Formula: No complete formula is assigned to the proprietary grade; PbCrO4 describes the lead chromate end member and is not a verified full formulation of M-11.
Molecular Weight: Approximately 323.2 g/mol for PbCrO4 only; no single molar mass is assigned to the complete commercial grade.
Colour Index Generic Name: C.I. Pigment Yellow 34.
Colour Index Constitution Number: 77603.
Boiling Point: No grade-specific boiling point is verified; a conventional liquid boiling point is not an appropriate performance descriptor for this pigment powder.
Melting Point: No verified M-11 melting point is assigned; the published heat tests are color-stability tests, not melting measurements.
Viscosity: Not applicable as a neat-liquid property of the powder; dispersion viscosity depends on vehicle, pigment loading, temperature and method.
Density: Published specific gravity 5.1-6.0; published bulk density 0.89 g/cm3. These describe different properties.

PRODUCT IDENTITY AND COMPOSITION

MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11 is a named commercial grade. Its technical data sheet is therefore the primary basis for discussing its measured pigment performance, while chemical-inventory references help interpret its published Colour Index identity.
The Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 technical sheet describes monoclinic lead chromate chemistry and identifies the pigment as Y-34 with constitution number 77603. Regulatory substance information associates C.I. 77603 with lead sulfochromate yellow, CAS 1344-37-2 and EC 215-693-7.
Pure lead chromate is a separately identified substance, CAS 7758-97-6 and EC 231-846-0. Its formula PbCrO4 and formula mass near 323.2 g/mol should not be used to imply that every commercial chrome-yellow pigment is analytically pure PbCrO4.

The distinction matters because pigment identity can involve crystalline composition, other constituents and stabilization treatment. The reviewed Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 sheet does not provide a complete quantitative composition or identify the stabilizing chemistry.
The word stabilized does not establish that a particular silica, alumina or other coating is present. It also does not demonstrate elimination of lead, hexavalent chromium or their associated hazards.
Similarly, the description of a clean shade refers to color quality. It is not a numerical chemical-purity assay or a statement that trace soluble constituents are absent.
For supply qualification, the current Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 safety data sheet, technical specification and batch certificate should refer to the same offered product. An identifier copied from a generic chrome-yellow entry is not a substitute for that documentation.

CRYSTAL STRUCTURE AND COLOR FUNCTION

The published monoclinic designation describes the crystal structure of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11. It is a solid-state characteristic, not a description of the shape of an organic molecule.
In the lead chromate reference structure, lead is present as lead(II) and chromium in the chromate group is hexavalent chromium. This chemistry differs from chromium(III) oxide green and from metallic chromium.
The chromate-containing crystalline phase provides the basis of the pigment's yellow color. The observed shade also depends on composition, particle characteristics, dispersion and the optical environment of the finished formulation.
A pigment colors a formulation through dispersed solid particles. It does not need to dissolve molecularly in the binder or solvent to provide color.

The grade designation middle chrome describes a commercial shade category. It does not establish a measured color coordinate, a universal spectral curve or identical shade across all products sold under similar descriptions.
Full-tone appearance and appearance after reduction with a white component provide different information. A pigment can appear satisfactory in one condition while showing an unacceptable undertone or reduced fastness in another.
The development task is therefore to match the intended coating, ink or polymer appearance under controlled conditions. A generic claim of strong yellow color is less useful than a comparison with an agreed reference at the intended loading.

PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL PROPERTIES

The following data are taken from the reviewed Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 technical sheet unless explicitly identified as interpretation or a reference-chemistry distinction. They are published grade data, not an independently verified current batch certificate for supply by Ataman Chemicals.
Product Type: Inorganic pigment powder described as stabilized monoclinic lead chromate.
Commercial Shade: Middle chrome yellow; no verified numerical color coordinates are assigned.
Colour Index Classification: Pigment Yellow 34 / 77603.
Oil Absorption: 15-20 as printed in the technical sheet. The reviewed sheet does not state the unit or test method, so these must be confirmed before the figures are converted into a purchasing limit or binder-demand calculation.
Specific Gravity: 5.1-6.0. This is dimensionless and should not be confused with the packing density of a powder bed.
Bulk Density: 0.89 g/cm3 as published, equivalent by unit conversion to approximately 890 kg/m3. The sheet does not identify whether the procedure is loose, tapped or another defined bulk-density method.
Full-Tone Lightfastness: Rating 7 on the stated 1-8 scale.
Reduced-Tone Lightfastness: Rating 6 at the sheet's stated 1:10 reduction on the same scale. The complete test formulation and exposure conditions are not given in the reviewed document.
Acid Resistance: Good in the sheet's qualitative rating.
Alkali Resistance: Poor in the sheet's qualitative rating.
Water Bleeding Test: Rating 5 on the sheet's 1-5 scale, where 5 indicates no observed bleeding under the test conditions.
5% Sodium Hydroxide Bleeding Test: Rating 3 on that scale.
5% Hydrochloric Acid Bleeding Test: Rating 3 on that scale.
Organic-Medium Bleeding Tests: Rating 5 is reported in linseed oil, ethanol, ethyl acetate, xylene, n-butanol, methyl ethyl ketone, mineral turpentine, the listed glycol-ether solvent and dioctyl phthalate.
Particle Size: No verified M-11 mean, distribution or upper particle-size limit is assigned.
Surface Area: No verified numerical value is assigned.
Moisture and Water-Soluble Matter: No verified M-11 specification limits are assigned in this profile.
Neat Viscosity and pH: No universal values are assigned to the dry pigment. Measurements on a liquid dispersion or aqueous extract require their own preparation and method.
Melting and Boiling: No grade-specific numerical values are assigned. Heat-test performance cannot establish either property.
Chemical Composition: The complete grade composition, stabilizer identity and constituent percentages require the actual product documentation.
These distinctions help prevent a numerical value from being used outside its meaning. A scale rating, physical density, chemical assay and application qualification are different types of information.

INTERPRETING DENSITY, OIL ABSORPTION AND DISPERSION

Specific gravity and bulk density answer different questions. The first relates to the material density relative to a reference, while the second includes the void space within a measured quantity of powder.
The published bulk density can therefore be much lower than the numerical specific gravity without contradiction. Hopper design, bag handling and volumetric feeding need the appropriate bulk measurement rather than the density of the pigment substance alone.
Density also matters when comparing pigments at equal mass and equal volume. Two colorants with different densities can occupy different volumes in a coating even when the same number of kilograms is added.

Oil absorption is related to the amount of liquid required in its specified test. It can be useful in assessing vehicle demand, but it does not directly predict the viscosity of every coating or ink.
Because the Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 sheet does not state an oil-absorption unit and method, its printed interval should remain associated with that limitation. A value from another pigment's method should not be used to fill the gap silently.
Dispersion involves wetting the powder, separating agglomerates and maintaining a useful particle distribution in the vehicle. It is different from changing the intrinsic crystal chemistry or dissolving the pigment.
A useful millbase assessment connects dispersion quality with color development, coarse residue, flow and storage behavior. Excessive milling energy is not automatically beneficial and should be evaluated against the final product requirements.

INTERPRETING LIGHT, HEAT AND BLEEDING TESTS

The lightfastness ratings are ordinal results on the stated scale. They are not percentages, and a rating of 7 does not mean that 87.5% of the original color will remain after a particular outdoor exposure.
A full-tone result and a reduced-tone result can differ because the optical and formulation environments differ. The stated reduction ratio should be preserved when comparing the published result with another grade.
The Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 document does not specify an outdoor service life or a number of exposure hours. Its ratings cannot be converted into a guarantee of years of weather resistance in every binder or climate.

Heat testing includes both temperature and duration. Stability at 210 degrees Celsius for ten minutes does not establish indefinite stability at that temperature, a higher-temperature processing limit or the behavior of a different polymer system.
A short test also does not replace an assessment of repeated extrusion, prolonged residence or local overheating. The actual thermal history should guide process qualification.
Bleeding ratings describe observed color transfer under the method used. They do not establish zero extractable lead, zero soluble chromium or compliance with a migration limit.
The qualitative acid and alkali entries are separate from the individual bleeding ratings. In particular, the acid result must not be expanded into universal resistance to all concentrations or all forms of acidic exposure.
The poor alkali designation is a material selection constraint. It makes high-alkalinity formulations an inappropriate area for an unsupported blanket compatibility claim.

APPLICATIONS IN PAINTS AND INDUSTRIAL COATINGS

Paint manufacture is a principal documented application for Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11. The grade can be evaluated where a specified middle-chrome yellow shade and the published pigment-performance profile are relevant to the coating.
The role of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 is color contribution through a dispersed solid phase. Binder selection, pigment volume, wetting and dispersion determine how that contribution appears in the finished film.
A development comparison should include the intended substrate and film thickness. A visual match in a thick laboratory drawdown does not necessarily establish the same appearance at the customer's application thickness.

Color, gloss, hiding and surface quality are separate measurements. A satisfactory shade does not by itself establish opacity, corrosion protection or adhesion.
The published lightfastness information provides a useful starting point for evaluation. Exterior durability still requires an appropriate assessment in the selected binder, including the effect of the full formulation and exposure conditions.
Settling and redispersibility should also be checked during storage. A pigment that mills satisfactorily can still produce a coating that is difficult to remix or inconsistent during application.
All use is subject to the restrictions applicable to lead- and chromate-containing products. A historical or catalogue paint application does not establish unrestricted suitability for architectural, household or other regulated coatings.

APPLICATIONS IN LIQUID PRINTING INKS

The Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 technical sheet specifically emphasizes liquid printing inks. This is more precise evidence than a general statement that every ink technology is compatible with the grade.
In a liquid ink, pigment wetting and dispersion affect color development, print uniformity and the risk of coarse matter. The vehicle, binder and application method determine which dispersion characteristics are acceptable.
The published bleeding results in several organic test media are relevant screening information. They do not independently qualify a complete solvent blend, resin solution or drying process.
Ink development should compare viscosity, filtration behavior, shade and print appearance in the actual formulation. The behavior of a concentrated millbase can differ after let-down into the finished ink.

Water-based and radiation-curable systems should not be assigned automatic compatibility from the phrase liquid ink. Their pH, reactive ingredients and dispersion requirements need separate evidence.
Likewise, printed-food-packaging suitability is not established by an ink application listing. Any relevant restriction, migration requirement and finished-article use must be assessed for the actual product and market.
A technical enquiry about Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 should identify the printing process, substrate, vehicle and target appearance. These details provide a useful basis for discussing grade qualification without inventing a universal pigment addition rate.

APPLICATIONS IN ROAD-MARKING PAINTS

Road-marking paint is another application explicitly identified in the technical literature. The role of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 is to contribute the intended yellow color within an appropriately designed marking formulation.
A road-marking coating has requirements beyond pigment shade. Binder properties, drying or curing behavior, wear, substrate adhesion and the complete optical system influence service performance.

Retroreflectivity should not be attributed to Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 alone. The marking's reflective performance depends on the relevant reflective materials and the completed marking system.
The published heat tests may be useful when assessing a process involving elevated temperature, but they do not authorize every hot-applied marking technology. Application temperature, residence time and formulation compatibility must be established independently.
Evaluation should include daytime color and the appearance after the expected exposure and wear. A laboratory pigment rating does not replace the tests required by a road-marking specification.
Lead and chromium restrictions can determine whether a proposed use is permitted at all. A documented technical application must therefore be reviewed alongside the current conditions governing procurement and use in the destination market.

APPLICATIONS IN PLASTIC MASTERBATCHES

The Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 literature identifies suitable supply for plastic masterbatch use. The qualification remains connected to the offered quality and the polymer process rather than every material carrying a similar grade name.
A masterbatch concentrates pigment in a carrier for later let-down. The carrier, dispersion aids, processing temperature and required color development all influence the result.
The heat-stability entries provide defined temperature-time observations. They do not establish a universal processing ceiling for all thermoplastics or prove stability after repeated passes through extrusion equipment.

Relevant trials can include the actual residence time, processing history and let-down ratio. A color obtained in one carrier should be checked in the final polymer and article geometry.
Dispersion defects may appear as specks, streaks or inconsistent color even when the average shade is close to target. Coarse-particle and filtration assessment should be selected according to the intended product.
Published bleeding observations are not a substitute for migration, extraction or restricted-substance testing. The presence of a pigment within a polymer does not make its chemical composition irrelevant to compliance.
No unsupported recommendation is made here for toys, food-contact plastics, medical articles or other sensitive uses. The actual application must be legally and technically qualified before selection.

APPLICATIONS IN PVC LEATHER CLOTH AND LEATHER PASTES

PVC leather cloth and leather pastes appear in the published application matrix. These are documented evaluation areas, but their formulations and processing routes should be considered separately.
A PVC coating or plastisol involves a specific balance of resin, plasticizer, stabilizer and pigment. Pigment compatibility must be checked through mixing, coating and the actual heating cycle.
For a leather paste or finish, binder interaction, dispersion and appearance on the intended substrate matter. A general pigment recommendation cannot establish adhesion or flexing durability of the finished coating.

The published test in a plasticizer medium offers limited screening information. It does not prove compatibility with every current plasticizer, finishing auxiliary or exposure condition.
Color transfer, surface appearance and stability should be assessed using the finished formulation and relevant contact materials. A no-bleed laboratory rating is not a universal nonmigration certificate.
These applications remain subject to the composition restrictions and use requirements of the destination market. The technical listing should not be converted into a claim that Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 is acceptable for every consumer-contact coated fabric or leather article.

APPLICATIONS IN LINOLEUM AND PAPER COATINGS

Linoleum and paper coating are also marked as application areas in the Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 sheet. In each case, the pigment contributes a solid colorant phase within a larger material system.
For a linoleum formulation, the relevant development work includes pigment distribution and the complete processing and exposure history. The appearance of a powder sample alone cannot predict the finished material's color uniformity.
Paper coatings involve binders, other pigments and application conditions that differ from a paint or masterbatch. The coating's pH and chemistry deserve attention in view of the published poor alkali resistance.

Useful checks include coating dispersion, shade, surface quality and any relevant transfer or extraction behavior. These should be performed in the intended coating rather than inferred from a solvent bleeding result.
A paper-coating application listing does not establish food-contact, printing-paper or packaging compliance for every use. The final article and the proposed pigment grade need their own qualification.
The matrix leaves some other application rows unmarked. That absence should not be converted into a positive recommendation for rubber, chalk or crayons without additional product-specific support.

FORMULATION QUALIFICATION AND PROCESS CONTROL

Start qualification of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 with an agreed color reference and a description of the actual vehicle or polymer. The word middle does not provide a numerical tolerance or replace a reference shade.
Compare candidates at a stated pigment concentration and, where relevant, on both mass and volume bases. Different densities can change the relationship between material cost, pigment volume and final optical performance.
Keep the dispersion procedure controlled when comparing color development. Milling equipment, energy input, temperature and let-down sequence can create apparent differences that are not attributable solely to the pigment grade.

Assess full-tone and reduced-tone appearance where both are relevant to the product. Color strength and undertone should be measured with methods and tolerances agreed for the intended formulation.
Storage assessment should include sedimentation, ease of redispersion and changes in flow. A freshly mixed sample may not represent the condition after transport or extended standing.
Thermal qualification should reflect the whole processing history rather than one peak temperature. Repeated heating and residence time can matter even if each individual step appears to fall within a published short test.
No universal addition level is assigned. The required amount depends on the target appearance, vehicle, other pigments and the legally acceptable use.

GRADE COMPARISON AND ALTERNATIVE COLORANTS

Other middle-chrome grades may have different lightfastness, dispersion and heat-test profiles despite sharing a Colour Index family. A neighboring grade number should not be substituted without reviewing its own technical data.
The M-11 values in this profile are deliberately retained as M-11 data. A value published for an economical middle-chrome grade or a pre-darkened grade is not evidence for the performance of this product.
Where a formulation must move away from lead-chromate chemistry, alternative pigment systems require a new comparison. Regulatory assessments have considered both inorganic and organic alternatives, including bismuth-vanadate-based yellows.

No candidate is assumed to be a direct equal-mass replacement. Shade, hiding, color strength, density, heat behavior, dispersion and cost per acceptable product can change together.
A replacement programme should define which properties are essential and which can be adjusted through the formulation. Matching a yellow shade alone does not establish equal weathering or processing performance.
Any alternative also needs its own safety and intended-use assessment. Removing lead or chromate from one ingredient does not automatically establish compliance of the complete product.

QUALITY CONTROL AND SUPPLY CONSIDERATIONS

For an enquiry to Ataman Chemicals, provide the exact grade name MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11 and the intended application. This avoids confusion with other middle-chrome grades or generic lead chromate materials.
Useful acceptance information includes shade tolerance, color-strength method, dispersion criterion and relevant heat or light performance. These should be linked to the intended test formulation where possible.
Clarify the method and units for oil absorption and bulk density before using the published values as incoming limits. A missing method should not be replaced with an assumed standard without agreement.

Obtain the current safety data sheet and quantitative composition information needed for restricted-substance assessment. The reviewed technical sheet alone does not establish the complete composition, soluble-metal profile or current legal suitability.
The batch certificate should identify the actual supply and the properties controlled for that grade. Published representative values are not the same as a measured result for a particular shipment.
The stabilization claim for Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 should be assessed through relevant performance and documentation. It does not establish a particular surface coating, low-dust form or absence of hazardous constituents.
Confirm packaging, storage conditions, shelf life and traceability for the offered product. No stock availability, universal package size, certification or guaranteed service life is inferred from the commercial name.

STARTING FORMULATION APPROACHES FOR MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11

The following examples illustrate how Middle Chrome Anuchrome M-11 can be evaluated during formulation and process development. They are preliminary laboratory screening approaches, not validated commercial recipes, production instructions or finished formulations with established regulatory compliance.

Middle Chrome Anuchrome M-11 is identified in its technical documentation as a stabilized, monoclinic lead-chromate yellow pigment, listed as C.I. Pigment Yellow 34, Colour Index 77603. M-11 middle chrome yellow and lead-chromate yellow pigment are useful descriptive terms. Confirm the exact supplied composition, surface treatment, substance identifiers and batch properties from current product documentation.

The proposed levels are illustrative starting points. Unless otherwise stated, percentages are by mass of the final coating, ink or masterbatch, and each listed composition totals 100%. Supplied binder solids, dispersant activity, solvent composition and pigment quality must be verified before testing. Laboratory trials, performance testing and workplace exposure assessment are required for each application.

Lead and chromium(VI) hazards require controlled handling, enclosed or extracted powder charging, contamination control and suitable waste management. Obtain an up-to-date safety data sheet that addresses these hazards. Each intended use requires a current jurisdiction-specific regulatory review, including restrictions or authorization obligations where applicable. These examples do not establish permission to market the pigment or suitability for food-contact, toys or other sensitive consumer applications.

EXAMPLE 1: MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11 PIGMENT-LOADING SCREENING IN AN INDUSTRIAL ALKYD ENAMEL

Objective: Determine how Middle Chrome Anuchrome M-11 loading affects color development, hiding, gloss, application viscosity and settling in a solventborne industrial enamel.

Starting components:

Middle Chrome Anuchrome M-11: approximately 8%, 12% and 16%

Compatible alkyd resin solution, assumed to contain 60% binder solids: approximately 50%, held constant

Compatible dispersing, anti-settling and drying-additive package: approximately 2% as supplied, held constant using an established base formulation

Compatible solvent blend: respectively 40%, 36% and 32%, including only the added solvent and excluding solvent already present in supplied ingredients

Additional pigments and mineral extenders: omitted during the initial comparison

Nominal dry film thickness: approximately 40 micrometers, held constant

Substrate preparation, application method, drying schedule and conditioning: held constant

Pigment replaces added solvent while the alkyd binder quantity remains fixed. Wet solids, pigment-to-binder ratio and pigment volume concentration therefore change between trials. These are formulation comparisons, not isolated tests of pigment concentration at constant pigment volume concentration.

Application approach:

Confirm that the selected pigment use is permissible for the intended industrial product and review the current handling controls.
Prepare the alkyd vehicle and approved dispersing additives in suitable enclosed or extracted equipment.
Introduce Middle Chrome Anuchrome M-11 gradually into the liquid vehicle without generating an uncontrolled dust cloud.
Disperse using a repeatable wet-dispersion procedure while monitoring temperature and solvent loss.
Complete the formulation with the remaining additives and solvent according to the base enamel's established sequence.
Measure fineness of dispersion, viscosity, color and visible flocculation.
Apply matched films to identically prepared panels and verify actual dry thickness.
Compare hiding over contrasting backgrounds, gloss, adhesion, drying behavior and color after defined conditioning.
Assess settling and redispersibility after 7 days, then repeat the most balanced M-11 loading.

Do not infer outdoor durability solely from initial color or the pigment's lightfastness description. Confirm weathering, chemical resistance and compatibility with the complete binder and additive system. The grade's reported poor alkali resistance should be considered when defining service conditions.

Use appropriate splash protection and chemical-resistant gloves, together with respiratory protection where required by the exposure assessment. Maintain lead/chromate contamination controls and collect pigment-bearing residues, wipes and cleaning liquids for controlled disposal.

EXAMPLE 2: MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11 DISPERSANT SCREENING IN A SOLVENTBORNE LIQUID INK

Objective: Compare dispersant demand, color strength, rheology and storage stability at a fixed M-11 pigment loading in a non-food industrial liquid-ink system.

Starting components:

Middle Chrome Anuchrome M-11: approximately 15%, held constant

Compatible solvent-soluble acrylic resin vehicle, assumed to contain 30% resin solids: approximately 35%, held constant

Compatible polymeric dispersant, assumed to contain 50% active material: approximately 0.30%, 0.60% and 0.90% as supplied

Compatible solvent blend: respectively 49.70%, 49.40% and 49.10%, in addition to solvent present in the resin vehicle and dispersant

Other pigments, waxes and performance additives: omitted during the initial comparison

Milling equipment, dispersion input, temperature limit, proofing substrate and drying conditions: held constant

The proposed dispersant additions correspond to approximately 1%, 2% and 3% active dispersant relative to pigment mass. Correct the supplied-product additions if the actual active content differs. A low-viscosity sample alone does not establish adequate dispersion or print performance.

Application approach:

Verify compatibility of the ink resin, solvent blend, dispersant and Middle Chrome Anuchrome M-11.
Prepare matched liquid vehicles and incorporate the selected dispersant quantity.
Charge the pigment under controlled extraction or enclosure and pre-wet it completely.
Disperse or mill using the same defined procedure, with controlled temperature and solvent evaporation.
Measure fineness, viscosity and color strength, and inspect for flocculation or coarse particles.
Prepare matched proofs on the intended industrial substrate using a defined coating weight or film thickness.
Compare shade, transparency or hiding as appropriate, gloss, drying, adhesion and rub resistance.
Recheck viscosity, settling and redispersibility after 7 days.
Select the dispersant level that balances color development, stability and application behavior, then re-evaluate after introducing any later additives.

Substrate, overprint varnish and solvent exposure can affect the finished ink's performance. Verify bleeding or migration using methods appropriate to the intended industrial article. Results from this screening do not establish food-contact or consumer-product suitability.

Control both solvent vapor and lead/chromate exposure. Use solvent-compatible enclosed equipment, suitable ignition controls and approved cleaning methods. Keep pigment-contaminated equipment and waste segregated from unrelated production.

EXAMPLE 3: MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11 CONCENTRATION SCREENING IN A POLYETHYLENE MASTERBATCH

Objective: Examine how pigment concentration affects dispersion, processing stability, pellet uniformity and color development in a polyethylene carrier.

Starting components:

Middle Chrome Anuchrome M-11 in a quality specifically approved for plastic masterbatch use: approximately 20%, 30% and 40%

Compatible polyethylene carrier resin: respectively 77.50%, 67.50% and 57.50%

Compatible polyethylene wax or processing aid: approximately 2.00%, held constant

Compatible antioxidant package: approximately 0.50%, held constant

Other pigments, mineral fillers and additional dispersing agents: omitted during the initial comparison

Carrier grade, mixing sequence, extrusion conditions and pelletizing method: held constant within the pigment and carrier suppliers' approved processing limits

Final evaluation pigment concentration: illustrative target of 0.50% by mass in the let-down polyethylene, where the intended use is permissible

At that target, the nominal masterbatch additions are respectively 2.50%, approximately 1.67% and 1.25% of the final blend. Calculate the precise addition from the measured pigment content. Carrier and processing-aid contributions also change with let-down and should be considered when interpreting final properties.

Application approach:

Confirm that the exact supplied M-11 grade is suitable for the polymer, processing conditions and intended regulated end use.
Prepare matched ingredient portions and feed them consistently using dust-controlled equipment.
Compound within the approved melt-processing window, recording actual melt temperature, pressure, torque and residence time.
Inspect for agglomerates, color streaks, discoloration, unstable flow and poor pellet uniformity.
Pelletize and evaluate pigment distribution and handling behavior.
Let each masterbatch down into the same polyethylene grade at the matched final pigment concentration.
Mold or extrude comparable specimens and record thickness and processing history.
Compare color, opacity, visible specks, surface appearance and relevant mechanical properties.
Repeat selected trials after a defined additional heat history to assess color stability within the intended process.

A short heat-resistance result in a pigment data sheet is not a universal extrusion-temperature limit. Verify the actual polymer environment, temperature and residence time. Encapsulation in plastic does not remove lead/chromate obligations, and the finished article requires its own regulatory and exposure assessment.

Control dust at premixing and feeding, maintain local extraction and use validated contamination-cleanup procedures. Collect scrap, purge material and maintenance residues as pigment-containing waste; do not release them into unrestricted recycling streams.

SAFETY AND REGULATORY CONSIDERATIONS

Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 is described as a lead chromate pigment and should not be presented as lead-free, chromium(VI)-free or harmless. Lead- and chromate-related hazards require specific assessment and controls for the actual grade.
Official information for the relevant lead chromate chemistry identifies carcinogenic, reproductive, repeated-exposure and aquatic hazards. The current M-11 safety data sheet must determine the exact classification, labeling and protective measures for supply and workplace use.
Dust inhalation and inadvertent ingestion are important exposure routes. Prevent powder dispersion during bag opening, weighing, charging, cleaning and waste handling.
Low water solubility does not establish low toxicity or zero release. Soluble constituents, dust exposure and the conditions of extraction can be relevant independently of the visible stability of a pigment dispersion.

The presence of a binder around pigment particles should not be treated as a universal safety guarantee. Sanding, cutting, abrasion or heating of a pigmented article can create additional exposure situations.
Lead chromate and lead sulfochromate yellow appear on the European REACH Authorisation List. This means that current use-specific authorization requirements and other applicable restrictions must be assessed; a catalogue recommendation is not a general permission to use the pigment.
Toy, consumer, packaging, electrical and other sector requirements can impose additional constraints. No general food-contact, cosmetic, toy or unrestricted consumer-use approval is claimed here.
Exposure limits and medical-surveillance requirements vary by jurisdiction and may change. The workplace assessment should use current applicable requirements rather than a universal limit copied into a generic product profile.

FIRST AID MEASURES

Inhalation of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 Dust: Move the affected person to fresh air without exposing rescuers. Obtain medical advice after significant exposure and urgent assistance for breathing difficulty or other serious symptoms.
Skin Contact with MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11: Remove contaminated clothing and wash the skin thoroughly with water and soap. Seek medical advice after substantial exposure or if symptoms occur, and prevent contamination from being spread to other areas.
Eye Contact with Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11: Immediately rinse with plenty of clean water for several minutes, removing contact lenses if present and easy to remove. Continue rinsing and obtain medical attention if discomfort persists or exposure is significant.

Ingestion of MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11: Rinse the mouth and contact a poison center or medical professional promptly. Do not induce vomiting or give home treatments unless instructed, and never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person.
Medical Information for Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 Exposure: Provide the exact product label and current safety data sheet and explain the possible lead and chromate exposure. Lack of immediate symptoms does not rule out the need for assessment after a significant incident.

HANDLING AND STORAGE

Handling MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11: Use controlled powder transfer and appropriate local extraction or containment. Minimize dust generation and avoid contact with skin, eyes and contaminated surfaces.
Personal Protection for ANUCHROME M-11: Select suitable gloves, protective clothing, eye protection and respiratory controls according to the actual exposure assessment. A routine dust mask should not be assumed adequate for every operation involving a hazardous metal-containing pigment.
Hygiene when Using ANUCHROME M-11: Keep food and drink out of the work area and wash before breaks. Manage contaminated clothing through the workplace procedure rather than taking pigment contamination home.

Storage of MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11: Keep packaging closed, correctly labeled and protected from moisture and damage. Use a suitable segregated area with provisions to prevent release into drains or the environment.
Segregation of ANUCHROME M-11: Keep away from incompatible chemicals identified in the grade's safety documentation. The poor alkali-resistance entry is also relevant when preventing contamination by alkaline cleaning materials.
Shelf Life of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11: Follow the current supplier instructions for the actual packaging and product. No universal storage duration is assigned from the inorganic nature of the pigment alone.

SPILL RESPONSE, DISPOSAL, FIRE AND TRANSPORT

Restrict access to a pigment spill and prevent dust from spreading. Use trained personnel and appropriate protection for the quantity and exposure conditions.
Collect material with specialist equipment designed for hazardous particulate contamination. Do not use compressed air or an ordinary domestic vacuum cleaner to distribute or collect the powder.
Prevent release to drains, soil and surface water. Cleanup materials, filters and contaminated packaging require assessment as part of the hazardous waste stream.

Do not dispose of residues as ordinary inert mineral dust solely because the product is an inorganic pigment. Lead and chromate content remain relevant to treatment and disposal requirements.
For fire involving the surrounding area, use the approach specified in the current product safety data sheet. Heated lead-chromate-containing material can generate hazardous fumes, and contaminated firefighting runoff requires containment.
No definitive transport classification for the proprietary M-11 grade is assigned without its current safety data sheet. Pure lead chromate transport information must not automatically be copied onto an incompletely characterized commercial pigment preparation.

No. The reviewed product technical sheet describes inorganic lead chromate chemistry, so data for an organic yellow should not be substituted by name or shade similarity.

Which CAS number is associated with the published Colour Index classification of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11?
C.I. 77603 is associated with lead sulfochromate yellow, CAS 1344-37-2 and EC 215-693-7; the current commercial-grade safety data sheet must confirm its actual composition and identifiers.

Can the whole Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 grade be assigned the formula PbCrO4?
Not from the reviewed technical sheet. PbCrO4 describes the lead chromate end member, while the complete commercial composition and stabilization system are not disclosed there.

What are the main documented applications of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11?
The literature identifies paints, liquid inks, road-marking paints and suitable plastic masterbatches, with additional application marks for leather pastes, linoleum, PVC leather cloth and paper coating.

What density information is available for Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11?
The sheet gives specific gravity of 5.1-6.0 and bulk density of 0.89 g/cm3; the two measurements describe different properties and must not be interchanged.

What oil-absorption value is published for Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11?
The sheet prints 15-20 without stating the unit or method, so those details need confirmation before the figure is used as an acceptance limit or calculation basis.

What lightfastness ratings are published for Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11?
The reported values are 7 in full tone and 6 in a stated 1:10 reduction on a 1-8 scale; they are not percentages or guaranteed outdoor service lives.

What heat-test results are available for Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11?
The sheet records stability at 120 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes, 150 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes, and 180 and 210 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes each.

Does stability at 210 degrees Celsius establish its melting point?
No. The entry is a temperature-time pigment-performance test, not a melting measurement or an unlimited processing-temperature recommendation.

Does Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 resist alkali well?
The published qualitative alkali-resistance rating is poor, so blanket claims of excellent alkali resistance or automatic suitability for highly alkaline systems are unsupported.

Does a no-bleed rating prove zero lead migration?
No. A visual bleeding test is different from a quantitative extraction or migration test for lead and chromium.

Is rubber or crayon suitability established by the application matrix?
The reviewed matrix leaves those rows unmarked, so it does not support an affirmative M-11 recommendation for those uses.

Does stabilization remove the lead and chromium hazards?
No. The stabilization description concerns the commercial pigment and does not demonstrate elimination of hazardous constituents or unrestricted use.

Can a catalogue application be treated as regulatory approval?
No. The actual product, use and destination market require assessment of current lead, chromate and sector-specific requirements.

What information should accompany an enquiry about Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11?
Provide the exact M-11 grade name, application, vehicle or polymer, processing history, color reference, required test methods, regulatory requirements, quantity and documentation needs.

TECHNICAL SUMMARY

MIDDLE CHROME ANUCHROME M-11 is a named commercial inorganic pigment described as stabilized monoclinic lead chromate. Its technical sheet identifies C.I. Pigment Yellow 34 and constitution number 77603. Regulatory substance information associates that constitution number with lead sulfochromate yellow, CAS 1344-37-2 and EC 215-693-7. This classification must be distinguished from pure lead chromate, PbCrO4, and from the complete composition of the proprietary grade. The reviewed product sheet does not disclose constituent percentages or the chemical identity of the stabilizing treatment.

Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 functions as a dispersed solid colorant. Shade development depends on its crystalline composition and particle characteristics as well as the vehicle, concentration and dispersion procedure. A description of a clean middle-chrome shade is a color-performance statement rather than a chemical-purity assay. Similarly, the stabilized designation does not establish a particular surface coating or demonstrate that lead and chromate hazards have been removed. Identity, analytical composition and performance should be assessed through the appropriate separate documents and tests.
Published physical data for Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 include specific gravity of 5.1-6.0 and bulk density of 0.89 g/cm3. The distinction is important because bulk density includes powder-bed voids and is relevant to handling and volumetric feeding. The printed oil-absorption interval is 15-20, but its unit and method are absent from the reviewed sheet. That interval should not be converted silently into an assumed specification. No verified particle-size distribution, complete molecular formula, neat-liquid viscosity or grade-specific melting point is assigned in this profile.

The technical sheet reports lightfastness ratings of 7 in full tone and 6 at a stated 1:10 reduction on a 1-8 scale. Its heat entries indicate stability at 120 degrees Celsius for 30 minutes, 150 degrees Celsius for 20 minutes, and 180 and 210 degrees Celsius for 10 minutes. These are defined performance observations rather than percentages, service-life guarantees or unlimited processing limits. Bleeding results also require their own interpretation and do not establish zero extractable metal or migration compliance.
The principal documented applications of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 are paints, liquid printing inks, road-marking paints and suitable plastic masterbatch uses.

Leather pastes, linoleum, PVC leather cloth and paper coating appear in the application matrix. Qualification should follow the actual vehicle, substrate, processing history and final article. The published poor alkali-resistance rating is a meaningful limitation, while the good acid rating remains tied to the unspecified conditions of that qualitative assessment. No general recommendation is made for every polymer, ink technology or high-alkalinity coating.
The application matrix leaves rubber and chalk or crayon rows unmarked. Those omissions should remain visible when deciding which uses have product-specific support.

Selection of Middle Chrome ANUCHROME M-11 must combine color and processing performance with the legal suitability of lead- and chromate-containing chemistry. Relevant substances are included in European authorization provisions, and sector-specific restrictions may impose additional requirements. Dust prevention, controlled cleanup and environmental containment are central handling measures. The exact current M-11 safety data sheet is needed for definitive grade classification and transport information. An enquiry to Ataman Chemicals should identify the application, color reference, analytical and regulatory criteria, quantity and required documents so that the proposed supply can be evaluated against the customer's actual requirement.
