Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is a secondary inhibitor (co-inhibitor) and antioxidant. For nonfood fats, oils and unstable organic solvents, it's a highly effective antioxidant. In unsaturated polyesters, it's used as a storage inhibitor.

Applications:
-Retarder:
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is an effective polymerization retarder for use in storing and shipping unsaturated polyesters and certain other polymerizable systems. Studies have shown that Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is a Potent Polymerization retarder under normal polymer storage conditions .Although its potency diminishes rapidly with increasing temperature , MTBHQ is an effective retarder even at temperatures as 114°c

-Antioxidant:
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ), at concentrations of 0.01%to 1.0% is a useful antioxidant in unstable organic  liquids such as chlorinated hydrocarbons , certain oils ethers , and aldehydes, and in preparations containing these ingredients, In some cases, the potency of Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is greater than that of hydroquinone.

-Stabilizer:
At a concentration of 0.5%  Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) has been found to be an effective heat and light stabilizer for pressure –sensitive adhesives based on poly (Vinyl ethyl ether) resins. These stabilized films are reported to be superior to many commercially available rubber based adhesives.

-Food - Grade Antoxidant:
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) should not be confused with TBHQ antioxidant.
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is a highly refined grade of mono-tert-butylhydroquinone for use in stabilizing various edible oils, fats, and foods against oxidative deterioration.

Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) appears as white to light tan crystalline powder or a fine beige powder. Very slight aromatic odor.

Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is a member of the class of hydroquinones in which one of the ring hydrogens of hydroquinone is replaced by a tert-butyl group.
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) has a role as a food antioxidant.

Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is a natural product found in Paeonia suffruticosa with data available.

Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is extensively used as an FDA-approved antioxidant (at concentrations up to 0.02% in terms of oil and fat content) in certain foods such as oils, fats, and meat products to slow oxidation and prevent rancidity ... .
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is also used in cosmetic products such as lipstick, eye shadows, perfumes and skin care preparations at concentrations from 0.1 to 1.0%.

Product Description
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is a light tan solid.
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is used primarily as a polymerization inhibitor and industrial antioxidant.
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ)s higher solubility and increased potency at higher temperartures combine to make it more useful in many applications than unsubstituted hydroquinone. The hindered hydroxyl group also makes Eastman™ MTBHQ an interesting organic intermediate.

Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is a preservative and antioxidant used in various applications. Derived from hydtert-Butylhydroquinone, it is a synthetic organic phenol made by substituting one of the ring hydrogen’s of hydroquinone with a tert-butyl group.
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) has a slightly aromatic scent with an off-white appearance, and usually comes the form of a powder that is highly soluble in water.

Applications:
Most perfume aficionados will tell you that fragrances are dynamic and that they start to change from the moment they touch our skin. When perfumers, referred to as Noses in the industry, aim to create a fragrance they use their expertise to formulate a scent combination that is pleasant, long lasting, and subtly noticeable; this conspicuousness is known as a sillage and refers to the pleasant trail left behind by the wearer. To increase the longevity and sillage of the fragrance, perfumers can reduce its evaporation rate by using Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) as a stabiliser, whilst simultaneously postponing degradation. At the recommended concentrations, Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) exhibits no odour making it ideal for cosmetics and perfumes alike.

Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ)s antioxidant properties make it an excellent stabiliser that can prevent evaporation, discolouration, and spoiling of the solvent to which it is added.
In food, Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is used for its preservative properties (E number E319).
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is used extensively in unsaturated vegetable oils and animal fats to extend the shelf life of products.
Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) benefits from a high solubility in both water and oil which makes it suitable for a wide variety of end products. Although Mono T-butyl Hydroquinone (MTBHQ) is FDA approved, some evidence suggests that in large quantities it could cause harmful side effects.
