N-BUTYL ACETATE

N-Butyl Acetate is an organic compound with the formula CH3(CH2)3O2CCH3.
N-Butyl Acetate is found in many types of fruit, where it imparts characteristic flavors and has a sweet smell of banana or apple.
N-Butyl Acetate is commonly manufactured by the Fischer esterification of butanol (or its isomer to make an isomer of butyl acetate) and acetic acid with the presence of sulfuric acid.

N-Butyl Acetate is a clear colourless liquid with a fruity, banana-like odour.
N-Butyl Acetate has a medium boiling point and medium volatility.
N-Butyl Acetate is freely miscible with all common organic solvents such as alcohols, ketones, glycols, aldehyhdes, aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons, ethers and esters, but it has only limited solubility in water.
N-Butyl Acetate is a highly versatile chemical which possesses good solvent power for cellulose nitrate, polymers, resins and oils.
Its solvent powers are similar to iso butyl acetate and methyl isobutyl ketone, and it is suitable for use as a substitute for these chemicals in many formulations.

Applications of N-Butyl Acetate
N-Butyl Acetate is predominantly used as a solvent in the production of lacquers and paints where it provides excellent levelling and resistance to blushing.
N-Butyl Acetate is often used in combination with n-butanol in paints as this further enhances blush resistance and solvency.
N-Butyl Acetate also has major uses in the leather industry and in the manufacture of adhesives and hardened coatings.
Its low hygroscopicity, high solvency and resistance to hydrolysis also see it employed as an extraction agent in pharmaceutical preparations and in the chemical industry.
N-Butyl Acetate has several other minor applications; it is an ingredient in cosmetics, perfumes, cleaning products and car care products.

N-Butyl Acetate  is an ester that is a colorless, flammable liquid at room temperature with a characteristic ester odor, moderately volatile, colorless solvent with excellent solvency for cellulose nitrate, polymers, resins and oils.
N-Butyl Acetate ’s miscible with all conventional solvents such as alcohols, ketones, aldehydes, ethers, glycols, glycol ethers, aromatic hydrocarbons, and aliphatic hydrocarbons.
Its solubility in water is limited.
Moreover, N-Butyl Acetate ’s an important solvent in the manufacture of paints, leather and in the chemical and allied industries.
Its moderate volatility and its resistance to blushing and levelling problems such as orange-peel effects make it possible for paints with excellent levelling and gloss to be formulated.

N-Butyl Acetate is a colorless liquid with the chemical formula of CH3COO(CH2)3CH3 or C6H12O2.
The melting point for N-Butyl Acetate is -78 °C and the boiling point is 126.1 °C.
Water solubility is 0.68 g/100 mL at 20 °C.
The density for N-Butyl Acetate is 0.8825 g/cm3.
