N-Ethylmorpholine is a component of the buffer used in basic peptide separation through anion-exchange chromatography. Further, it acts as a catalyst in the preparation of polyurethane foam. It is used to produce preservatives, emulsifiers and coating. This product is soluble in water and alcohol, so it also can be used as intermediate of solvent, catalysts, dye, pharmaceuticals and surfactant. Meantime, it is also used in organic synthesis.

Ethylmorpholine is a colorless liquid with an ammonia-like odor. Colorless, flammable liquid with an ammonia-like odor. Experimentally determined detection and recognition odor threshold concentrations were 400 μg/m3 (85 ppbv) and 1.2 mg/m3 (250 ppbv), respectively. Catalyst in polyurethane foam production. Intermediate for dyestuffs, pharmaceuticals; rubber accelerators and emulsifying agents; solvent for dyes, resins, oils; catalyst in making polyurethane foams.

3) In the polyurethane industry, N-ethylmorpholine is used as a catalyst for polyester-polyurethane soft block foam.
First aid:
Ingestion: Do NOT induce vomiting. If victim is conscious and alert, give 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water. Get medical aid immediately. Do NOT induce vomiting. If conscious and alert, rinse mouth and drink 2-4 cupfuls of milk or water.
Inhalation: Get medical aid immediately. Remove from exposure to fresh air immediately. If not breathing, give artificial respiration. If breathing is difficult, give oxygen. DO NOT use mouth-to-mouth respiration.
Skin: Get medical aid. Flush skin with plenty of soap and water for at least 15 minutes while removing contaminated clothing and shoes. Remove contaminated clothing and shoes.
Eyes: Flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Immediately flush eyes with plenty of water for at least 15 minutes, occasionally lifting the upper and lower eyelids. Get medical aid immediately.
