Description
Solvent Naphtha is an aromatic hydrocarbon solvent made mainly from aromatic compounds. 
Naphtha can be divided into light and heavy types, are aromatic hydrocarbon solvents primarily made from C9, C10 and C10-C13 aromatic compounds. 
Heavy solvent naphtha is harmful to health, and possibly carcinogenic, and are to be labelled H351 “Suspected of causing cancer”.

Description
Naphtha is a clear, flammable liquid mixture of hydrocarbon obtained from petroleum distillation.
Coal tar oil, [heavy distillate] appears as a clear colorless to dark brownish colored liquid with an aromatic odor. 
Less volatile fraction separated from coal tar by distillation. 
Contains naphthalene, acenaphthene, methylnaphthalenes, fluorene, phenol, cresols, pyridine, picolines, among other substances. 
Flash point greater than 100 °F. 
Toxic by inhalation and skin absorption. 
Less dense than water and insoluble in water. 
Vapors heavier than air.

Description

Naphtha is a broad term used for a group of volatile, flammable liquid hydrocarbon mixtures obtained primarily from petroleum refining and, in some cases, from natural gas processing or coal-derived sources. 
Its exact composition varies depending on the source and refining process, but Naphtha generally contains hydrocarbons in the approximate C5–C12 range, including paraffins, cycloparaffins (naphthenes), and aromatic hydrocarbons.

Naphtha can range from light, highly volatile fractions to heavy aromatic fractions with higher boiling points. 
Naphtha is typically a colorless to pale yellow liquid with a characteristic petroleum-like odor and very low water solubility.

Naphtha is an important industrial feedstock and solvent. 
Its properties, such as boiling range, aromatic content, volatility, density, and solvent power, depend strongly on its specific grade.

Uses

solvent naphtha is a flammable liquid distillate containing principally xylenes and higher aromatic hydrocarbons and usually boiling higher than ligroin, obtained especially from coal-tar light oils or coke-over-gas light oils or from petroleum cracking, and used chiefly as a solvent and as a raw material for coumarone-indene resins.
