NICKEL HYDROXYCARBONATE

CAS NO.: 12607-70-4
EC/LIST NO.: 235-715-9

Nickel Hydroxycarbonate is generally immediately available in most volumes.
High purity, submicron and nanopowder forms may be considered.
American Elements produces to many standard grades when applicable, including Mil Spec (military grade); ACS, Reagent and Technical Grade; Food, Agricultural and Pharmaceutical Grade; Optical Grade, USP and EP/BP (European Pharmacopoeia/British Pharmacopoeia) and follows applicable ASTM testing standards.
Typical and custom packaging is available.
Additional technical, research and safety (MSDS) information is available as is a Reference Calculator for converting relevant units of measurement.

Nickel Hydroxycarbonate describes one or a mixture of inorganic compounds containing nickel and carbonate.
From the industrial perspective, the most important Nickel Hydroxycarbonate is basic nickel carbonate with the formula Ni4CO3(OH)6(H2O)4.
Simpler carbonates, ones more likely encountered in the laboratory, are NiCO3 and its hexahydrate.
All are paramagnetic green solids containing Ni2+ cations.
The basic carbonate is an intermediate in the hydrometallurgical purification of nickel from its ores and is used in electroplating of nickel.

Nickel Hydroxycarbonate comes as a green powder or green paste.
The product is available in powder form with a content of about 49% and in paste, with a nickel content of 40%.

Nickel Hydroxycarbonate is mainly used in catalysis.
Nickel Hydroxycarbonateis also used in surface treatment as a Ph regulator in nickel sulfamate baths.
Nickel Hydroxycarbonateis also used as a raw material for nickel/silicon carbide (NiCaSil) coating.

Nickel hydroxycarbonate is normally available in various concentrations.
Special packaging requirements are available upon request.
Nickel hydroxycarbonate is stored in original packing and under conditions mentioned on the safety data shee

Nickel hydroxycarbonate is an inorganic compound or a mixture of inorganic compounds containing nickel and carbonate.
Nickel hydroxycarbonate is an intermediate used to produce nickel metal powder or other nickel salts.
Another major use is the intermediate use as precursor in the nickel catalysts.
Nickel hydroxycarbonate can also be used in nickel plating solutions, as pH regulator or in the composition of trication phosphating baths.

The samples of non-sodium nickel hydroxycarbonate for nanosized catalysts have been obtained and investigated.
The ratio of crystalline water, the amount of nickel hydroxide and carbonate has been calculated.
By the X-ray analysis of obtained nickel oxide the crystallite size of 12–13 nm has been determined.
The samples of catalysts provided a high specific surface.

Commercial basic Nickel Hydroxycarbonate is made by precipitation from a nickel solution, usually the sulphate, with sodium carbonate
Nickel Hydroxycarbonate can be prepared by the oxidation of nickel powder in ammonia and dioxide.
Boiling away the ammonia causes precipitation of pure nickel carbonate
There are differences in the manufacturing conditions and precipitation agents used for the production of pure nickel carbonate and nickel hydroxycarbonates
Nickel Hydroxycarbonate is produced at lower temperatures (< 50 °C) and at lower pH (< 5) than production of basic nickel carbonates.
Alkaline bicarbonates are also used instead of carbonates
Nickel hydroxycarbonate is mainly produced from either nickel sulphate or nickel nitrate
The major uses of nickel carbonate described above result in the production of catalysts, plated products and other nickel-containing chemicals.
In these processes nickel carbonate is converted into other nickel-containing compounds.
Nickel catalysts and many plated products are recycled
