Uses    
Nonylphenol, ethoxylated (8-EO) is suitable for the preparation of cell extracts to be analyzed by Antibody Bead Immunoassay (Luminex), ELISA, and Western blotting. 
Nonylphenol, ethoxylated (8-EO) can also be used as a wash buffer for immunoprecipitation reactions.
Nonylphenol, ethoxylated (8-EO) is a nonionic surfactant that can be used for testing the stress cracking resistance of polyethylene materials at high temperatures. 
Nonylphenol, ethoxylated (8-EO) is also suitable for enhancing the biodegradation of aromatic hydrocarbon compounds.

Biochem/physiol Actions    
Nonylphenol, ethoxylated (8-EO) is a protein serine/threonine kinase that is a member of the extracellular signal-regulated kinases (ERKs) which are activated in response to numerous growth factors and cytokines. 
Activation of Nonylphenol, ethoxylated (8-EO)requires both tyrosine and threonine phosphorylation that is mediated by MEK. 
Nonylphenol, ethoxylated (8-EO) is ubiquitously distributed in tissues with the highest expression in heart, brain and spinal cord. 
Activated Nonylphenol, ethoxylated (8-EO) translocates into the nucleus where it phosphorylates various transcription factors (e.g., Elk-1, c-Myc, c-Jun, c-Fos, and C/EBP beta).
