DESCRIPTION:
Oleth 20 is an ethoxylated oleyl alcohol.
Oleth 20 is 100% active, and it is supplied as a waxy solid.
Oleth 20 is used as Surfactant, Detergent, Solubilizer, Dispersing Agent, Gelling Agent and O/W Emulsifier for in cosmetics and personal care products.

Oleth 20 is An emulsifier.
Oleth-20 is one of many Oleths, an ingredient comprised of the polyethylene glycol ethers of oleyl alcohol in which the number in the name is the average number of ethylene oxide units.

APPEARANCE :
Oleth 20  is White odorless crystalline powder

FUNCTION:
Oleth 20 is used to clean skin and hair by helping water to mix with oil and dirt so that they can be rinsed away.
These ingredients also help to form emulsions by reducing the surface tension of the substances to be emulsified and help ingredients to dissolve in liquids in which they would not normally dissolve.

STORAGE:
Keep container tightly closed in a dry and well-ventilated place.
Store at room temperature in the original container.
Store away from incompatible materials.

HANDLING:
OLETH-20 ethoxylated alcohol is packed in 204-kg drums.
Material should be stored in closed containers and protected from extreme temperatures.

SUGGESTIONS FOR USE OF OLETH-20:
Oleth-20 ethoxylated alcohol is derived from a vegetable based alcohol.
Oleth-20 is an easy-to-use liquid form.
Its nonionic nature allows flexibility in formulation and provides compatibility over a wide pH range.

Its low odor makes Oleth-20 particularly useful for solubilizing oils.
Some of the active pharmaceutical ingredients (API) that have been formulated with Oleth-20 are:
Capsaicin, menthol and Urea.
Oleth-20 has been listed in the FDA Inactive Ingredient Database (IID) for topical products and oils.
Recommended use levels range from 0.5% to 10.0%, depending on application

FIREFIGHTING MEASURES:
Extinguishing media
Suitable extinguishing media:
Use water spray, alcohol-resistant foam, dry chemical or carbon dioxide.
Advice for firefighters:
Wear self-contained breathing apparatus for firefighting if necessary.

Further information:
Use water spray to cool unopened containers.

ACCIDENTAL RELEASE MEASURES:
Personal precautions, protective equipment and emergency procedures
Wear respiratory protection.
Avoid breathing vapours, mist or gas.
Ensure adequate ventilation.
Remove all sources of ignition.

Evacuate personnel to safe areas.
Beware of vapours accumulating to form explosive concentrations.
Vapours can accumulate in low areas.
Environmental precautions:
Prevent further leakage or spillage if safe to do so.

Do not let product enter drains.
Discharge into the environment must be avoided.
Methods and materials for containment and cleaning up
Contain spillage, and then collect with an electrically protected vacuum cleaner or by wet-brushing and place in container for disposal according to local regulations
