PEG-2 Oleamine is a polyethylene glycol amine of oleic acid.

What does PEG-2 OLEAMINE do in a formulation?
-Emulsifying

PEG-2 oleamine is a PEG amine of oleic acid PEG-2 oleamine uses and applications include:
-Emulsifier, dispersant, wetting agent, corrosion inhibitor for agriculture, leather, metalworking, plastics;
-textile dyeing agent, dye leveling agent, antiprecipitant, stripping agent;
-intermediate for quaternions;
-emulsifier;
-thickener;
-emulsifier for waxes, solution oils, cosmetics, pesticides, cleaners, bitumen, silicone oils;
-antistat for textile spin finishes, paper processing, plastics, food-grade polymers;
-wetting agent, dispersant for electrostatic paints, inks, dyes, and pigments

Emulsifying agent: Promotes the formation of intimate mixtures between immiscible liquids by modifying the interfacial tension (water and oil)

PEG 2 Oleamine is a foaming agent that can also be found in soap, hair dye products, and shampoos.
PEG-2 Oleamine works to help build foam.
This can help the product cling to a surface longer, allowing our products time to clean.

In cosmetics and personal care products, this ingredient works primarily as a surfactant - emulsifying agent.

The main purpose of this additive is to add shine and make the hair silkier.

PEG-2 Oleamine is also used to improve the wetting characteristics of skin lotions, shaving formulas, aerosol shaving creams and shampoos.

Occurrence
creams, milks, balms, shampoos, conditioners and hair masks

How PEG-2 Oleamine works
PEG-2 Oleamine allows the water phase to be combined with the oil phase.
PEG-2 Oleamine is a foam-forming substance, stabilizes and improves the quality of the foam.
PEG-2 Oleamine enables the formation of an emulsion, it is a surfactant.

PEG-2 Oleamine is oleic acid ethoxylated with 2 moles of ethylene oxide.
PEG-2 Oleamine is a substance resistant to hard water, unstable at acidic pH.
PEG-2 Oleamine contains mainly calcium and magnesium ions.
PEG-2 Oleamine is most often used in hair care cosmetics.

"PEG" refers to a PEG (polyethylene glycol) derivative. The number after "PEG-" (or the first number after "PEG/...-") indicates the average number of molecular units -CH2-CH2-O-.
Ingredient based on oleylamine ((Z)-octadec-9-enylamine).
Amines are generally organic compounds derived from ammonia and in which one, two or all three hydrogen atoms of the ammonia are replaced by alkyl groups or aryl groups.

Polyethylene glycols (INCI: PEG-...) are polycondensation products of ethylene glycol or polymerisation products of ethylene oxide.
The number attached to the name indicates the average number of ethylene oxide units in the substance.
The consistency of the PEG derivatives becomes increasingly firm as the degree of polymerization increases.
PEGs with an average molar mass of up to 600 g/mol are liquid, up to 1000 g/mol are waxy and from 4000 g/mol are solid, waxy substances.
By mixing solid and liquid components, products with a creamy consistency are obtained, which are used as water-free and water-washable bases.
With increasing molar mass, the water solubility and hygroscopicity (moisture absorption capacity) of the polyethylene glycols decrease.

Polyethylene glycols and their derivatives are preferably used in cosmetic agents because they have a wide range of viscosity and solubility properties and are very well tolerated by the skin.
As water-soluble, non-greasy substances, polyethylene glycols are suitable for many cosmetic purposes.
The liquid PEG serve as a glycerol substitute in facial, shaving and hair lotions, as solubilizers and solvents.
