PEG 200

PEG 200
PEG 200 USP

Composition
Polyethylene glycol
H(OCH2CH2)nOH
n = 4

CAS-No.: 25322-68-3
INCI-description: PEG-4

PEG 200 acts as a moisturizer in antiperspirants, shampoos and liquid soaps, hair styling products and bar soap.
PEG 200 is used as a carrier for sodium stearate & sodium aluminum hydroxylapatite in deodorants and perfumes.

PEG 200 functions as an outstanding solubilizer for hexachlorophene and dimethyl phthalate azulene.
PEG 200 has very low water content, good biodegradability and is compatible with hard water.

PEG 200 is used in toothpaste where it improves consistency and storage stability.
PEG 200 can also be used in bath oils and foam baths to assist the solubilizing action of the active substances for perfume oils.
PEG 200 has a shelf life of 2 years.

PEG 200 is a liquid PEG excipient grade product, produced under IPEC GMP conditions.
PEG 200 is specified according to the requirements of the main international ICH guidelines and monographs.

Product properties of PEG 200:
PEG 200 is clear viscous liquid at room temperature.
PEG 200 can be supplied in tank trucks or in steel drums.

PEG 200's two hydroxy end groups as well as its ether groups mainly control the physical and chemical properties of PEG 200.
Therefore PEG 200 is soluble in water and polar organic solvents like aceton or methanol.

PEG 200 is insoluble in pure hydrocarbons.
PEG 200 displays typical chemical reactions of alc ohols/diols.
The solidification point, of PEG 200 is about 50°C.

Besides standard grade PEG 200 special quality PEG 200 USP with very  low concentration of monoethylenglycol and diethyleneglycol for pharamaceutical applications is available.

Storage of PEG 200:
When stored in a cold, dry place in a closed container PEG 200 can be kept for at least two years.

Applications of PEG 200:
Based on their physical and chemical characteristics -polyethylene glycols are used for a wide variety of applications.

Fields of applications of PEG 200:
- Reactive diol/polyether component in polyester or polyurethene resins
- Component of auxiliaries for leather and textile processing
- Cosmetic / pharmaceutical formulations (e.g. humectant or solubilizer for creams, shampoos, tooth paste and injection fluids)
- Lubricant and mould release agent for rubber and elastomer processing
- Plasticizer and binder for ceramic and concrete manufacturing
- Component of lubricant formulations
- Water soluble, lubricating component in metal working fluids
- Humectant for paper, wood and cellulose films
- Solvent and humectant for dyes and inks
- Modifier for productionof regenerated viscose
- Humectant and plasticizer for adhesives
- Heat transfer medium
