Poloxamers are nonionic triblock copolymers composed of a central hydrophobic chain of polyoxypropylene (poly(propylene oxide)) flanked by two hydrophilic chains of polyoxyethylene (poly(ethylene oxide)). 
The word poloxamer was coined by BASF inventor, Irving Schmolka, who received the patent for these materials in 1973.
Poloxamers are also known by the trade names Pluronic, Kolliphor (pharma grade),and Synperonic.

⯈ USES/BENEFITS OF POLOXAMER 184: 
POLOXAMER 184 is classified as emulsifying and surfactant.
A synthetic polymer (a big molecule made of repeated units) that's used as a mild cleansing agent. 
Poloxamer 184 is also used in contact lens solutions and a regular on the ingredient lists of micellar cleansing waters.
Poloxamer 184 is almost half-half oil and water-soluble, likes to form micelles (molecules gathered into a ball form with oil-loving parts inside and water-loving parts outside)  and is claimed to be an effective cleansing agent.
Synperonic PE poloxamers find application as solubilizers, emulsifiers, surfactants, thermo-reversible gelling agents, wetting agents, foaming agents and defoaming agents, depending on different PEO/PPO indexes and molecular weights. 
Synperonic PE/L 64 (poloxamer 184) is a solubilizer with cleaning, wetting and dispersing properties.
Due to its non-ionic nature, Poloxamer 184 is miscible and compatible with almost all anionic and cationic surfactants. 
Poloxamer 184 do not react with calcium and magnesium cations present in hard water.

Production Methods
Poloxamer polymers are prepared by reacting propylene oxide with propylene glycol to form polyoxypropylene glycol. 
Ethylene oxide is then added to form the block copolymer.
