Polyglykol 200  is a polyethylene glycol with a mean molecular weight of 200. 
Polyglykol 200 is a viscous liquid. 
USP indicates that this grade of Polyglykol 200 complies with the requirements for mono and diethylene glycol of the USP/NF.

Applications of Polyglykol 200
Polyglykol 200  is used in different liquid pharmaceutical preparations such as drops or fillings for gelatin capsules.
Polyglykol 200 is also used as carrier for sodium stearate and sodium aluminium hydroxylactate in deodorants, perfume and insect-repellent sticks. 
Polyglykol 200 is an outstanding solubilizer for hexaclorophene, dimethyl phthalate azulene, etc.
Polyglykol 200  is also used in toothpastes where it improves consistency and storage stability. 
Polyglykol 200 acts as a moisturizer in antiperspirants, shampoos and liquid soaps, hair styling products and bar soap.
Polyglykol 200 can also be used in bath oils and foam baths to assist the solubilizing action of the active substances for perfume oils

Storage of Polyglykol 200
PEG 200  is stable for 2 years when stored in the original sealed containers in a cool, dry place.
Furthermore the containers should not be exposed to direct sun light. 
Ambient temperatures for long term storage are preferably between 10°C and 25°C and between 0°C and 30°C as maximum. 
Storage at higher temperatures is possible only for a short time and should be kept below the solidification point of the products.

Polyglykol 200 is essential to ensure storage in a dry place because liquid PEG are hygroscopic. 
Each time the containers are opened, they should be resealed to make them airtight. 
Even with sealed laboratory containers it is impossible to prevent atmospheric oxygen and moisture acting on PEG 200 USP owing to frequent opening. 
We therefore recommend that laboratory samples should also not be stored longer than 2 years.

The most suitable material for storage tanks is stainless steel, pure aluminium, rubber-or polyethylenelined containers and storage tanks made from glass-fibre-reinforced polyester (GRP). The tank should be ventilated by means of a silica gel dryer. 
Conventional steel tanks are of limited suitability because after prolonged storage the product may become discoloured owing to traces of iron.
The recommended method of storing PEG 200 USP is in stainless steel or aluminium containers fitted with an external, heating coil. 
The storage temperature should not exceed 70°C, and it is advisable to thoroughly mix the contents of the storage container with a dry nitrogen stream or a circulating pump.

Polyglykol 200 is a polyethylene glycol that is used for a wide variety of applications including: reactive diol/polyether component in polyester or polyurethene resins; component of auxiliaries for leather and textile processing; cosmetic / pharmaceutical formulations (e.g. humectant or solubilizer for creams, shampoos, tooth paste); lubricant and mould release agent for rubber, plastic and elastomer processing; plasticizer and binder for ceramic and concrete manufacturing; component of lubricant formulations; water soluble, lubricating component in metalworking fluids; humectant for paper, wood and cellulose films; solvent and humectant for dyes and inks; modifier for production of regenerated viscose; humectant and plasticizer for adhesives; and heat transfer medium. 
Polyglykol 200 is a clear viscous liquid at room temperature, and it has a molecular weight of 190 – 210g/mol.

Polyglykol 200 slows down the drying of pigment preparations and prevent skin formation. 
Ideal dosage on organic pigment is 10-12%. 
Polyglykol 200 is used as humectants, retention agent and solvent in waterborne pigments. 
Polyglykol 200 is approved for ecolabels and complies with the following regulations: environmental label (blue angel), EINECS, TSCA, DSL, AICS, CN, ECL, and METI.
