POLYGLYKOL M 400

Composition of Polyglykol M 400:
Monomethoxy polyethylene glycol
CH3(OCH2CH2)nOH n = about 9

CAS Number: 9004-74-4

Product properties of Polyglykol M 400:
Polyglykol M 400 is a clear neutral liquid at room temperature.
Polyglykol M 400 can be supplied in tank trucks or in steel drums.

Polyglykol M 400 is soluble in water and common used organic solvents like Aceton, Methanol.
Polyglykol M 400 can be considered as high molecular alcohol and therefore displays typical chemical reactions of alcohols.

Storage of Polyglykol M 400:
When stored in a cold, dry place in a closed container Polyglykol M 400 can be kept for at least two years.

Applications of Polyglykol M 400:
M-type polyglycols are used for a wide variety of chemical reactions.
With isocyanates and polyester they act as endcapping and hydrophilic component.

When reacted with unsaturated monomers like acrylic or methacrylic acid esters are formed which can be copolymerisized in order to increase hydrophilicity and improve dispersing properties of polymers in water.
In the USA some M-type polyglycols are used for pharmaceutical applications.

CAS Number: 25322-68-3
EC Number: 500-038-2

Polyglykol M 400 is an APEO-free, polyethylene glycol-based humectant.
Polyglykol M 400 is used in water-based and solvent-borne alkyd end-use pigment preparations.

Polyglykol M 400 retards the drying of pigment pastes and forms a soluble film of the pigment preparation.
Polyglykol M 400 prevents the formation of skin or lumps on the surface of the dispersion.
The recommended dosage of Polyglykol M 400 for point-of-sales colorants and in-plant titters is 4-8% and 6-10% respectively.
