Applications of Preventol D2
With its broad spectrum of activity, good solubility in water and low acute toxicity, Preventol D 2 is a versatile preservative which is easy to use.
Preventol D 2 's spectrum of activity covers bacteria, including formaldehyde-resistant species, fungi, yeast and algae.
Preventol D 2 can be incorporated at any stage of the production process but is best added to the feedwater first. 
If higher temperatures (> 40 °C) or pH (> 9) values are likely to occur during the manufacturing process, the product should be added at the end of the process, however. 

In this case take care to homogeneously distribute the preservative within the product to be protected. 
Because of its low viscosity, in the most cases Preventol D 2 can be used undiluted.
The product can also be unproblematic pre-dissolved in water, alcohols or alcohol/water mixtures. 
The use of Preventol D 2 in the preservation of aqueous formulations does not generally cause any undesirable side-effects. 
In contrast to preservatives containing active ingredients which split off formaldehyde, Preventol D 2 is highly suitable for the preservation of products which contain protein
(e. g. casein).
Preventol D 2  is advisable to carry out compatibility tests before Preventol D 2 is used in new products or applications. 

For industrial use as a preservative to inhibit the growth of bacteria, fungi, and yeast in polymer emulsions, photoplate processing, fountain solutions & ink components, metalworking fluids, adhesives, aqueous compositions, and pigment & mineral slurries. 
Designed for coagulation sensitive products which are sensitive to multivalent salts.

Preventol D 2 is a microbicide containing a mixture of isothiazolinones.
Preventol D 2 is readily incorporated into formulations and is compatible with surfactants and emulsifiers regardless of their ionic nature. 
Preventol D 2 will not adversely affect product physical properties or performance and should not impart odor or color to most final products.
Preventol D 2 can be incorporated at any stage of the production process but is best to add it in the initial stage.

However, if higher temperatures (>104 °F / 40 °C) , the presence of highly reactive components, or pH values >9 occur during the manufacturing process the product should be added at the end of the process or to the finished product below critical conditions. 
In this case, take care to distribute the preservative uniformly in order to ensure homogeneous mixture of the product in the water. 
Since Preventol D 2 has a low viscosity, the product can be added directly or pre-dissolved in water.

The use of the monovalent stabilized Preventol D 2 in an aqueous formulation does not generally cause any undesirable stability issues. 
Even sensitive polymer emulsions, which tend to coagulate when multivalent metal salts are added to the formulation, can be easily preserved with the Preventol D 2.
The approved dosage level ranges are provided in the chapter "Directions for Use" further below, but variables sucha as pH, Temperature, redox potential, initial microbial count and intended storage time of the product to be preserved should be taken into account.


First aid measures of Preventol D 2

General information :
Remove affected person from source of contamination. 
In case of accident or if you feel unwell, seek medical advice immediately (show the label where possible). 
Keep affected person under observation.

Inhalation :
Move affected person to fresh air at once. 
Place unconscious person on their side in the recovery position and ensure breathing can take place. 
Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Ingestion :
Move affected person to fresh air and keep warm and at rest in a position comfortable for breathing. 
Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. 
Do not induce vomiting. 
Do not give milk or alcoholic beverages Never give anything by mouth to an unconscious person. 
Get medical attention immediately.

Skin contact :
Remove affected person from source of contamination. 
After contact with skin, take off immediately all contaminated clothing, and wash immediately with plenty of water. 
Get medical attention if any discomfort continues.

Eye contact :
Rinse immediately with plenty of water. 
Remove any contact lenses and open eyelids wide apart. 
Continue to rinse for at least 15 minutes. 
Get medical attention immediately. 
Continue to rinse.


HANDLING AND STORAGE of Preventol D 2
