PREVENTOL P 91

CAS NUMBER: 52-51-7

EC NUMBER: 200-143-0

DESCRIPTION:

Preventol P 91 is VOC-free, water-borne, in-can preservative based on bronopol/isothiazolinones.
Preventol P 91 offers broad and balanced spectrum of activity against bacteria (aerobic & anaerobic), mold fungi and yeast.
Preventol P 91 is distinguished by a relatively rapid onset of action. Preventol P 91 enables the effective prevention of subsequent microbial damage and in the formation of enzymes in coatings.

Preventol P 91 is an aqueous preparation of min. 9.0 % 2-bromo-2-nitropropane-1,3-diol (Bronopol) and min. 1.0 % isothiazolinones.
Preventol P 91 is VOC-free.
Preventol P 91 is VOC-free, water-borne, in-can preservative based on bronopol/isothiazolinones.

Preventol P 91 offers broad and balanced spectrum of activity against bacteria
To inhibit the growth of odor-causing bacteria in toilets, chemical deodorant concentrates should incorporate Preventol P 91 so that the diluted chemical toilet deodorant contains 500 to 3000 ppm of Preventol P 91.
For the preservation of adhesives add Preventol P 91 at 0.05 to 0.30% based upon the final formulation volume.

For the preservation of latex based paints and coatings add Preventol P 91 at 0.05 to 0.35% based upon the final formulation volume.
For the preservation of consumer, household and institutional products such as dishwashing liquids, surface cleaners, detergents and polishes, waxes, laundry products, liquid air fresheners / deodorizers, car care products and liquid fabric treatment / refresher products add Preventol P 91 at 0.05 to 0.20% based upon the final formulation volume.
For the preservation of building materials add Preventol P 91 at 0.05 to 0.25% based upon the final formulation volume.

For the preservation of industrial products such as pigments, surfactants and raw materials for the manufacture of industrial and consumer products, also industrial water additive formulations for use in processes such as boiler water and waste water products.
For general preservation applications, Preventol P 91 must be dosed at 0.05 to 0.3% based on the final formulation volume.
Preventol P 91 enables the effective prevention of subsequent microbial damage and formation of enzymes in coatings.

The ideal pH for the use of Preventol P 91 ranges from slightly acidic to slightly alkaline.
Preventol P 91 is VOC- & solvent-free, preservative based on Preventol P 91.
Preventol P 91 is effective against a broad spectrum of aerobic and anaerobic bacteria with the inclusion of sulfate-reducing species.

Preventol P 91 is distinguished by a relatively rapid onset of action.
Preventol P 91 is an organic compound that is used as an antimicrobial.
Preventol P 91 is a white solid although commercial samples appear yellow.

The first reported synthesis of Preventol P 91 was in 1897.
Due to its low mammalian toxicity at in-use levels and high activity against bacteria, especially Gram-negative species, Preventol P 91 became popular as a preservative in many consumer products such as shampoos and cosmetics.
Preventol P 91 was subsequently adopted as an antimicrobial in other industrial environments such as paper mills, oil exploration, and production facilities, as well as cooling water disinfection plants.
Preventol P 91, or 2-Bromo-2-nitro-1,3-propanediol, is an organic compound with wide-spectrum antimicrobial properties.
