Quaternium-18  is seen in formulas for a variety of products, including lipstick, face makeup, eye shadows, rouge, mascara, skin gels, skin creams, skin lotions, hair care products, and cleaners .

Quaternium-18 is a quaternary ammonium salt that is made up of fatty acids isolated from beef tallow.
Quaternium-18 are synthetically produced salts that are used in hair cosmetics, where they act as conditioners and improve the interconnectedness of other ingredients in the product, they support good foaming.
Quaternium-18  has an antistatic effect and promotes better combing of the hair.
They are irritating to the skin and respiratory system and are associated with asthma in children.
Quaternium-18 shows signs of toxicity in non-reproductive organs.
The substance is problematic due to environmental toxicity and poor biodegradability, it is banned in certified organic cosmetics.

Quaternium-18 Bentonite is used as hair conditioner and viscosity adjuster.
Quaternium-18 Bentonite helps to distribute or suspend an insoluble solid in a liquid.
As hair conditioning ingredient it increases the softness and smoothness of hair.
When used in the formulation of lotions and creams, this ingredient helps to keep the product from separating into its oil and water components.

Quaternium-18 is formed from quaternary ammonium chloride salt and hectorite obtained from clays. The quaternary ammonium salt is obtained from fatty acids of tallow. It has a gel-like consistency and is used in a variety of cosmetic products.

Quaternium-18  is used as a gelling agent in formulations. From an applications perspective, this specialty product has the ability to facilitate shine making it excellent for use in lip gloss, lipstick and hot pours. Pigment suspensions, emulsions, and gels are other areas of favorable use for this product.

Quaternium-18 is a mixture of quaternary ammonium chloride salts.
Quaternium-18 and Bentonite are the reaction products of Quaternium-18 with clays.
These compounds are poorly absorbed through the skin.
Acute oral and percutaneous toxicity tests in animals indicate that they exhibit little or no systemic toxic effects.

Quaternium-18  (see also Polyquaternium) refers to complex quaternary ammonium compounds.
Quaternium-18  ammonium compounds, also called quats, have quaternary nitrogen atoms, i.e. all four hydrogen atoms of the ammonium ion (nitrogen atom) are replaced by organic residues.
Quaternium-18   are therefore cationic, i.e. they have a positive charge.
"tallow" refers to beef tallow.

Quaternium-18 is used in cosmetic formulations.
The compound acts as an antistatic agent (reduces static charges by neutralizing the electrical charge on the surface, e.g. of hair) and as a surfactant (washing-active substance; improves the even distribution of the products during application).

Quaternium-18 is not vegan.
Quaternium-18  is a Quaternary Ammonium Compound that contains chemically altered tallow and is used in cosmetics as a hair conditioner, surfactant, and antistatic agent.
Tallow is fat usually derived from slaughtered cows, goats, pigs, or other animals.

Quaternium-18  with the designation "Quaternium -..." or "Polyquaternium -..." are complex quaternary ammonium compounds, ie all four hydrogen atoms of the ammonium cation are replaced by (often polymeric) organic residues.

Quaternium-18  are so-called washing-active substances and are of great importance in cosmetics for cleaning skin and hair.
Surfactants (from the Latin "tensus" = tensioned) are substances that, due to their molecular structure, are able to reduce the surface tension of a liquid.
In this way, two liquids that are actually immiscible with one another, such as oil and water, can be finely mixed.
Due to their properties, surfactants are used in a variety of ways in cosmetics:
They can clean, create foam and also act as emulsifiers and mix substances with one another.
In shampoos, shower gels and soaps, for example, surfactants are used to wash away fat and dirt particles from the body with water.
Surfactants are also used in toothpastes.

Quaternium-18  used in cosmetic products are mainly produced synthetically on the basis of vegetable raw materials.
Surfactants are often used in combination in order to meet all the desired requirements - such as dirt removal and foam formation combined with good skin tolerance - in the best possible way.
Thus, through a skilful combination of a surfactant - considered on its own - with unfavorable skin tolerance but very good dirt dissolving properties with a very mild, skin-friendly surfactant, a product with good cleaning properties with just as good skin compatibility is obtained.

Quaternium-18 belongs to the group of synthetic quaternary ammonium compounds, exactly it is a quaternary ammonium salt, which is formed by fatty acids isolated from beef tallow.
Quaternium-18  is made synthetically from salt.
Quaternium-18 is mainly used in hair cosmetics, where it acts as a binder.
Quaternium-18 improves the cohesion of the individual components, promotes foaming and has antistatic properties.
Facilitates hair combability.
Quaternium-18 is a substance that irritates the skin and respiratory system, in the worst case it can cause asthma.
Quaternium-18  is toxic to non-reproductive organs and the environment, as well as very poorly degradable.
Not allowed for use in certified organic cosmetics.

Quaternium-18 is used as a suspending and viscosity controlling agent in cosmetic products.
In any formulation, the final consistency of the product is very crucial.
Quaternium-18 is a combination of two ingredients- hectorite is a type of clay whereas quaternium is a salt.
Clay has a natural tendency to swell when suspended in water.
So, it can be used in any product to increase the viscosity of a product.
As a suspending Quaterniuum 18 it is used to get the right consistency of the medium, so that suspension like nail polish or liquid lipstick remains uniform in each usage.
Quaternium- 18 also functions as an emulsifier and gives stability to the product.
The product with oil and water-based components gets separated into its components.
Emulsifier stabilizes the product, prevents separation of the components, and enables even distribution of the product components when used.
Quaternium-18  is used in formulations of creams, gels, lotions, hair care, and personal.
