Refined Linseed Oil is currently one of the highest known vegetable oils with the highest content of essential fatty acids (omega-3 and omega-6 fatty acids).
Refined Linseed Oil is used in paints, varnishes, oilcloth, putty, printing inks, core oils, linings, and packings, alkyd resins, soap, and pharmaceuticals.
Refined linseed oil is a purified form of linseed oil obtained from the seeds of the flax plant and is composed mainly of triglycerides rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids.

Refined Linseed Oil appears as a pale yellow to light amber liquid with reduced odor and improved clarity compared to crude linseed oil. 
The refining process removes impurities such as free fatty acids, phospholipids, pigments, and waxes that can affect stability and performance.
During refining, the oil typically undergoes steps such as degumming, neutralization, bleaching, and deodorization to improve its chemical and physical properties. 

These treatments enhance oxidative stability and consistency while minimizing undesirable color and smell. 
As a result, refined linseed oil is more suitable for controlled industrial and formulation uses than unrefined grades.
Chemically, refined linseed oil is characterized by a high content of linolenic acid, which gives it strong drying properties when exposed to air.

Refined Linseed Oil react with acids to liberate heat. 
Heat is also generated by interaction with caustic solutions. 
Strong oxidizing acids may cause a vigorous reaction that is sufficiently exothermic to ignite the reaction products. 

Flammable hydrogen is generated by mixing with alkali metals and hydrides. 
React with oxygen in the air to harden.

Refined Linseed Oil, also called flaxseed oil, is known as one of the best hardwood oils for outdoor furniture. 
There are many linseed oil variations on the market: refined, boiled, and raw. We recommend using refined oil as it has a faster drying time than natural oil and is safer to use in all climates than boiled linseed oil.
However, Refined Linseed Oil is similar and can be used; though, it might require more applications during the summer months.

In 1991, One Meridian Plaza, in Philadelphia, was severely damaged in a fire, in which three firefighters perished, thought to be caused by rags soaked with linseed oil.

Refined Linseed Oil is flammable. 

If used and stored correctly, there is very little risk of linseed oil spontaneously combusting. 
However, the fire hazard increases under certain circumstances. 
Be very careful with rags that have been used to apply linseed oil. 

In many cases of spontaneous combustion of drying oils the cause has been a pile of oil soaked rags. 
As the oil oxidizes it generates heat. 
The rags act as an insulator, allowing the heat to build up until the cloth smokes and eventually ignites. 

The bigger the pile, the greater the possible heat and the greater the risk. 
Refined Linseed Oil is used rags should be stored in a metal can with a top and soaked with water to limit the risk of fire since the drying process is exothermic.
