RHEOVIS PU 1250

RHEOVIS PU 1250

Rheovis PU 1250 is non-ionic medium pseudoplastic rheology modifier for water-based coatings.
The recommended dosage rate is 0.2-2.0 % of Rheovis PU 1250 as supplied on total formulation, depending on the pigmentation, kind of binder, emulsifier used and co-solvent.
Undiluted Rheovis PU 1250 can be incorporated into the system while stirring.

Cuts in butyl glycol or 1,2-propylene glycol are possible as well.
Rheovis PU 1250 is a non-ionic rheology modifier for waterborne coatings that provides structural viscosity.
Rheovis PU 1250 is a polyurethane polymer in water/butoxydiglycol.
This yellowish, white hazy Rheovis PU 1250 is suitable for thickening and modification of flow properties of waterborne polymers and other aqueous systems as well as for finished products like coatings and putties.

These properties can be achieved in all kind of emulsions based on e.g. acrylic copolymer, vinyl acetate homopolymer, acrylic polymers, PVAc-VC copolymers, polyurethanes, amine neutralized and emulsified systems.
Rheovis PU 1250 is a mid-shear thickener with medium pseudoplasticity.
Rheovis PU 1250 should be stored in tightly closed containers.

The packed product is not damaged by low temperatures or by frost.
If stored at low temperatures precipitation or gelatinization of Rheovis PU 1250 is possible.
This process is reversible.
Please heat product to room temperature and stir well before use.

Rheovis additives encompass a broad portfolio of synthetic rheology modifiers designed for aqueous systems, including non-ionic associative (HEUR / HMPE), anionic associative (HASE) and non-associative anionic (ASE) technologies.
Each product class has its own properties and applications to enable formulators to achieve their desired rheology profile with all types of resins.
Rheovis PU and PE series of associative thickeners stand out as a class of groundbreaking additives based primarily on hydrophobically modified polyether and polyurethane derivatives.

USES and APPLICATIONS of RHEOVIS PU 1250:
-Rheovis PU 1250 is used Architectural Coatings, Baking Coating/Enamel, Exterior Paint, Exterior Primer, Exterior Wood Stains, General Industrial Coating, Interior Paint, Interior Primer.
-Rheovis PU 1250 is suitable for the thickening and modification of the flow properties of water-based polymers and other aqueous systems as well as for finished products such as coatings and putties.

-Rheovis PU 1250 is filmbuilding and shows good affinity to pigments.
Thickening is independent of the pH.
-Rheovis PU 1250 is suitable for the thickening and modification of the flow properties of water-based polymers (e.g., acrylic copolymers, vinyl acetate homopolymers, acrylic polmyers, PVAc-VC copolymers, polyurethanes, amine-neutralized and emulsified systems).

-Rheovis PU 1250rheology modifiers:
• reduce dripping and spattering of paint during roller or brush application,
• improve sag resistance of a paint by a rapid, but controlled viscosity increase after application,
• prevent sedimentation of the pigments within a formulation during transport and storage of the paint.

-Mid-shear thickener, medium pseudo-plastic behavior; promotes excellent orientation of effect pigments
• polyurethane-based associative thickener
• non-ionic, medium pseudoplastic rheology modifier for water-based coatings
• thickening is pHindependent
• improved flow and gloss
• increased hiding power
• wash and scrub resistances
• outstanding spatter resistance during roller application

-Rheovis PU 1250 is suitable for thickening and modification of the flow properties of water-based polymers (e.g. acrylic polymers, vinyl
acetate homopolymers, PVAc-VC copolymers, polyurethanes, amineneutralized and emulsified systems).
-Because of Rheovis PU 1250's low viscosity, Rheovis PU 1250 can be used as supplied.
However, Rheovis PU 1250 can be diluted with water-soluble co-solvents (e.g. butyl glycol or 1,2-propylene glycol).

-Rheovis PU 1250 rheology modifiers enable paint producers to adjust the flow behavior of paints.
That way, painters benefit from improved viscosity and application characteristics.

-Rheovis PU 1250 is Nonionic associative thickener:
Hydrophobically Modified Polyurethane (HEUR), Medium shear thickener; medium pseudoplastic; provides optimum orientation of effect pigments.
-A dosage of 0.2 – 2.0% calculated on total formulation is recommended.

-As well as the inorganic thickeners, however, Rheovis PU 1250 is also possible to use one or more organic thickeners.
These are preferably selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid-(meth)acrylate copolymer thickeners, and of polyurethane thickeners.
(Meth)acrylic acid-(meth)acrylate copolymer thickeners are those which as well as acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid also contain in copolymerized form one or more acrylic esters (i.e., acrylates) and/or one or more methacrylic esters (i.e., methacrylates).
A feature common to the (meth)acrylic acid-(meth)acrylate copolymer thickeners is that in an alkaline medium, in other words at pH levels >7, more particularly >7.5, by formation of a salt of the acrylic acid and/or methacrylic acid, in other words by the formation of carboxylate groups, they exhibit a strong increase in viscosity.

-Thickening agents based on polyurethanes (e.g. polyurethane associative thickeners) are optionally crosslinked and/or neutralized with a suitable base.
Corresponding products such as Rheovis PU 1250 are available commercially.
Examples of suitable polymeric waxes include modified or unmodified polymeric waxes based on ethylene-vinyl acetate copolymers.
-Rheovis PU 1250, 1550 40 ~ 3,500 20 mid-shear thickener; medium pseudoplastic; provides excellent orientation of effect pigments

-There is preferably also a thickener present.
Suitable thickeners are inorganic thickeners from the group of the sheet silicates.
As well as the inorganic thickeners, however, it is also possible to use one or more organic thickeners.
These are preferably selected from the group consisting of (meth)acrylic acid-(meth)acrylate copolymer thickeners Rheovis AS S130, and of polyurethane thickeners, for example Rheovis PU 1250.
The thickeners used are different from the binders used.
