RHODAMEEN T 15 refers to a range of non-ionic surfactants derived from animal fats (tallow).

The abbreviation 'POEA' is often erroneously used to refer to RHODAMEEN T 15.
RHODAMEEN T 15 is used primarily as emulsifiers and wetting agents for agrochemical formulations, such as pesticides and herbicides (e.g. glyphosate).
Synthesis
Animal fat is hydrolysed to give a mixture of free fatty acids, typically oleic (37–43%), palmitic (24–32%), stearic (20–25%), myristic (3–6%), and linoleic (2–3%).
These are then converted to fatty amines via the nitrile process before being ethoxylated with ethylene oxide; RHODAMEEN T 15 makes them water-soluble and amphiphilic.
The length of the fatty tail and degree of exothylation will determine the overall properties of the surfactant.
Due to RHODAMEEN T 15 being synthesized from an impure material POEA is itself a mixture of compounds.

Uses
RHODAMEEN T 15 is a surfactants derived from animal fats with primary use as emulsifiers.
RHODAMEEN T 15 is widely used in mineral floating agent, waterproof softener of fiber, dyeing assistant, anti-static agent, pigment dispersant, anti-rusting agent, anti-caking agent of fertilizer, additives of lubricating oil, and germicide.
RHODAMEEN T 15 is also used for soaps, leather dressings, candles, food, and lubricants.
RHODAMEEN T 15 is used in producing synthetic surfactants.
RHODAMEEN T 15 based alkyl amines are widely used in the synthesis of organic chemicals and cationic and amphoteric surfactants.
In the textile industry, as a leveling additive, RHODAMEEN T 15 is used in the finishing of silk printed fabrics to prevent white background stains.
Increase brilliance; in the daily chemical industry, RHODAMEEN T 15 is used in shampoo to increase hair luster.
In the textile printing and dyeing industry, RHODAMEEN T 15 is used as detergent, emulsifier, dispersant, desizing agent, antistatic agent and softener; when used in adhesive pulp, it can improve the filterability and silk resistance of the original pulp.
RHODAMEEN T 15 can significantly reduce the power load and improve the looseness of alkali fibers.
Mainly used as a leveling agent for acid metal complex dyes.
RHODAMEEN T 15 can reduce the amount of sulfuric acid in the dyeing bath and reduce the strength of fabric damage.
RHODAMEEN T 15 can also be used as a leveling agent for neutral dyes and vat dyes.
RHODAMEEN T 15 can effectively control the instantaneous dyeing rate and dye migration, and facilitate rapid dyeing at high temperature.

As a stripping agent for wool and nylon fabrics, RHODAMEEN T 15 is used for stripping and level dyeing of wool, which can improve the appearance of fabrics, and can improve the abrasion fastness of fabrics in the dyeing and printing of ice dyes.
Use as an additive in the production of viscose fiber cord to improve the strength of the cord, improve the viscose filterability and processing technology, improve the monofilament strength of the cord, and reduce the replacement rate of the spinning nozzle by about 20-40% compared with the original.
