ROCIMA 344

APPLICATION AND ACTIVITY

ROCIMA 344 is a remarkably effective fungicide which has especially been developed for the use in coatings on wood and mineral surfaces.
ROCIMA 344 has a very broad spectrum of activity against moulds, yeasts and blue stain that can grow on coatings.
The growth of algae and lichen can also be prevented by using ROCIMA 344.

Therefore, ROCIMA 344 can be used as the sole protective agent; however, it is also suitable to be combined with additional fungicides or algicides.
ROCIMA 344 is a liquid and, consequently, easy to incorporate into the final product.
A homogeneous emulsion can be obtained by thorough stirring.

ROCIMA 344 can be added at any phase of production, provided thorough mixing is guaranteed.
Should the manufacturing process involve heating of the product, it is advisable to add ROCIMA 344 after cooling, at the end of the process.

If, due to faulty construction, the surfaces to be coated are permanently damp, remedial work must be done to correct this before a successful application of ROCIMA 344 can be achieved.
The great variety of systems and manufacturing conditions make it generally advisable to check compatibility before starting to use any new ingredient.

Should you encounter microbial problems or problems concerning special applications, please contact Biological or our Technical Service Laboratory.
ROCIMA 344 biocide, like other paint film biocides, should only be used indoors if the infestation with fungi cannot be prevented with constructional means.
Occupied rooms treated with formulations containing ROCIMA 344 should not be used during the drying time.

ROCIMA 344 is a preparation of dichloroctylisothiazolone and octylisothiazolone.
ROCIMA 344 is used for clear wood coatings and lacquers.

DESCRIPTION

ROCIMA 344 biocide is a liquid fungicide for use in water and solvent based coatings, paints and plasters, including pigmented or clear wood coatings and lacquers.
The ideal migration properties of ROCIMA 344 provide efficient control of mould and algal growth and are therefore a considerable contribution for the prevention of a secondary infestation.
ROCIMA 344 is a biocidal product intended for use in accordance with Product Type 7 (Film Protection) of the Biocidal Products Directive.

TYPICAL PROPERTIES OF ROCIMA 344

- Miscibility/Solubility

ROCIMA 344 is clearly miscible at any proportion with organic solvents, such as alcohols, ketones, aromatics.
Additionally, ROCIMA 344 is miscible with water with formation of a milky emulsion.

- Dosage

The optimum dosage of ROCIMA 344 depends largely upon the susceptibility of the coating to fungal and algal growth, the exposition to weathering, the thickness of the coating, the amount of dirt to be expected, and the potential of the local environment to contaminate the surface.
The concentration ranges listed below should be taken as general guidelines only:

Coatings 0.5 - 1.5%
Plasters 0.2 - 0.5%
Fillers 0.2 - 0.5%
Adhesives 0.1 - 0.3%

- Handling

Please refer to the safety data sheet of this product for precise handling instructions.
The processing and use of industrial chemicals require adequate technical and professional knowledge.
In general, avoid eye and skin contact, wear safety goggles, gloves and protective clothing.
In case of eye or skin contact despite precautionary measures, wash immediately and thoroughly with plenty of warm water and obtain medical attention.
The legal requirements prevailing in your country, especially on working hygiene and in the avoidance of accidents, must be observed.

- Storage

ROCIMA 344 should be stored in tightly sealed original containers, preferably at room temperature.
