Silres BS 16 is an aqueous solution of potassium methylsiliconate, intended for dilution with water and use as impregnation of mineral building materials, such as tiles, bricks, foam concrete, gypsum, perlite, vermiculite.
Silres BS 16 gives water-repellent properties thanks to the reaction with atmospheric CO₂, which results in the formation of polymethylsilicic acid.


Like all silicones, Silres BS 16 can cause the appearance of a white coating on the surface of painted materials or if you deviate from the instructions for use.

Instructions for using Silres BS 16 waterproofing chemicals:


Silres BS 16 must then be stirred thoroughly before use.

Do not apply the solution twice.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE of SILRES BS 16:
Silres BS 16 is after dilution with water, is allowed to penetrate into the surface of building materials by spraying, dipping or brushing to form a uniform waterproof coating.

Dilution:
Silres BS 16 is supplied in concentrated form and must be diluted immediately before use.
Normal tap water can be used for dilution.
The best way is to slowly add Silres BS 16 to the water and stir well.

Mixing ratio: 
Depending on surface porosity.

STORAGE of SILRES BS 16:
Silres BS 16 should be stored in iron drums, plastic or glass containers.
Tinplate, aluminium or galvanized or lacquered containers are not suitable.

In the sealed container, Silres BS 16 has a shelf life of at least 12 months, both in its concentrated and diluted form.
Storage temperatures of Silres BS 16 should not drop below – 80 °C.

If crystals form due to too low storage temperatures, these will redissolve when the product is allowed to warm up.
Silres BS 16 must then be stirred thoroughly.

The diluted product should always be stored at a temperature above 0 °C.
The ‘Best use before end’ date of each batch appears on the product label.

If Silres BS 16 is kept beyond the shelf life recommended it is not necessarily unusable, but a quality control should be performed on the properties relevant to the application.

CHARACTERISTICS of SILRES BS 16:
High pH concentrate (alkaline solution) indicates strong reactivity toward mineral substrates.
Reaction product is polymethyl­silicic acid, which binds to substrate and imparts hydrophobicity.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE of SILRES BS 16:
Silres BS 16 is supplied in concentrated form and diluted with tap water before use.
The approximate degree of dilution is 1:16–1:20, selected experimentally.
It is best to add the concentrate to water with vigorous stirring.

Silres BS 16 is applied by the immersion method or another method that provides a uniform coating.
Double application is not recommended.
Silres BS 16 is not intended for processing external walls because of the risk of white spots.
