SODIUM ANTIMONATE

CAS NO.:  15432-85-6
EC/LIS NO.: 239-444-7

Sodium Antimonate powder is used in the Glass Industry as a fining agent or degasser, especially in colour television bulbs and optical glass.

Sodium Antimonate is Sodium salt of antimonic acid.
Sodium Antimonate is used in the Glass Industry as a fining agent or degasser, especially in colour television bulbs and optical glass.
Sodium Antimonate is a fire retardant with very low tinting characteristics.
As such it is used in plastics, paints, fibre glass resins and various textile goods.

A fine powder of sodium antimonate trihydrate, a slightly soluble salt of the highest available was used to prepare a dilute solution of sodium antimonate.
In polyol method it is found that the ferrite is impossibly gained when diethylene glycol is replaced by ethylene glycol, or anhydrous sodium acetate by acetic acid sodium salt trihydrate.

Sodium Antimonate Hexahydrate is used for the production of Colloidal Antimony Pentaoxide used as a flame retardant.

Sodium Antimonate is also used for the production of extremely high purity Antimony Metal and subsequently high purity Antimony Trioxide.

Sodium Antimonate is also called sodium metaantimonate.
White powder with granular crystal and equiaxed crystal.
Sodium Antimonate is resistant to high temperature and does not decompose at 1000 ℃.
Soluble in tartaric acid, sodium sulfide solution, concentrated sulfuric acid, slightly soluble in alcohol, ammonium salt, insoluble in acetic acid, dilute alkali and dilute inorganic acid.
Insoluble in cold water, hydrolyzed in hot water to form colloid.

Product category:
Inorganic salts

Engineering plastics, which require high heat resistance, may be affected in their material features by depolymerization caused through adding antimony trioxide to the plastics.
SA-A, penta-valent antimonate, provides engineerin plastics with flame retardance without adversely affecting the material features of the original plastics by retaining their original heat and hydrolysis resistance.
Although high crystal water and coarse particle size are a common feature of sodium antimonate, the tight quality control maintained over particle size has led to our success in the production of non-water and fine type SA-A by eliminating water (adhesive water and crystal water) that causes hydrolysis and producing a fine particle size which gives high disparsibility.
The refractive index of this grade is similar to many kind of plastics, allowing the original transparency and clear coloring of the plastics to be closely maintained making it a better alternative to antimony trioxide.

Typical specification NaSbO3 98%min., particle size 10micron max.

sodium metaantimonate is used as clarifier of kinescope, optical glass and various high-grade glass, flame retardant of textile and plastic products, enamel opalescent agent, opaque filler of paint for casting and composition of anti acid paint of iron sheet and steel plate; it is used to identify sodium ion in chemical analysis.
Sodium Antimonate is obtained from the mixture of antimony and sodium nitrate after being smashed, heated, reacted with air, and then soaked with nitric acid.
Sodium Antimonate can also be obtained by mixing crude antimony trioxide with hydrochloric acid, chlorination with chlorine, hydrolysis and neutralization with excessive alkali.
