Method of Synthesis
Sodium acetate can be synthesized by reacting acetic acid with sodium hydroxide. The reaction produces sodium acetate and water. Another method is the reaction of acetic anhydride with sodium hydroxide, which is more efficient and yields a higher amount but is more expensive and requires more safety precautions due to significant heat production .
