Sodium dichromate is the inorganic compound with the formula Na2Cr2O7.
Usually, however, Sodium dichromate is handled as its dihydrate Na2Cr2O7·2H2O.
Virtually all chromium ore is processed via conversion to sodium dichromate and virtually all compounds and materials based on chromium are prepared from Sodium dichromate.
In terms of reactivity and appearance, sodium dichromate and potassium dichromate are very similar.
Sodium dichromate is, however, around twenty times more soluble in water than the potassium salt (49 g/L at 0 °C) and its equivalent weight is also lower, which is often desirable.

Bright orange or red crystals.
Sodium dichromate is as used an oxidizing agent in dyes, inks, and paints.
Sodium dichromate is also used for chrome tanning hides and as a chrome mordant for textile dyeing.
Solutions of sodium dichromate are used as anticorrosive agents for Iron and preservatives for wood.

In the 19th century aqueous solutions of chromic acid, prepared with sodium dichromate and Sulfuric acid, were used as glass cleaning solutions in laboratories.
Sodium dichromate comes as orange to red powder, hygroscopic product with a purity of 98.9% minimum.
Sodium Dichromate is an orange to red colored, crystalline, inorganic compound that emits toxic chromium fumes upon heating.
Sodium dichromate is highly corrosive and is a strong oxidizing agent.
Sodium dichromate is mainly used to produce other chromium compounds, but is also used in drilling muds, in metal treatments, in wood preservatives, in the production of dyes and organic chemicals and as a corrosion inhibitor.
Sodium dichromate is also known as sodium bichromate, bichromate of soda and sodium dichromate (VI)

Red to orange crystalline solid
Sodium dichromate is used as an intermediate in the production of other chromium compounds and in the past was used in wood preservatives.
Sodium dichromate is a red to orange crystalline solid.
Sodium dichromate is a member of a chemical group known as chromium (VI) compounds.
Other names for sodium dichromate include sodium bichromate, bichromate of soda and sodium dichromate (VI).

Sodium dichromate, Na2Cr2O7·2H2O, is widely used when manufacturing chromium metal, magnetic tapes, tanning of leather, as a preservation compound for timber, metal finishing, pigments for plastic and ceramic industry, as well for corrosion prevention and in oil and detergent industry.
Sodium dichromate is obtained from ground chromite roasted with soda and oxidized, and then quenched with water.
Sodium dichromate is extracted with sulfuric acid to produce a commercially pure solution.
Sodium dichromate or Na2Cr2O7 is an inorganic compound.
Sodium dichromate is also known as bichromate of soda, disodium dichromate, or sodium dichromate (VI).
Sodium dichromate is known to be a powerful oxidizing agent and is highly corrosive.
Sodium dichromate is a red to reddish-orange crystalline solid.
Sodium dichromate is odourless and dissolves in water, methanol and ethanol.
Sodium dichromate is commonly used as a corrosion inhibitor. On heating, it liberates chromium fumes that are toxic in nature.

On a larger scale, sodium dichromate is obtained from ores which contain chromium (III) oxides.
Sodium Dichromate is a strong oxidising agent and a source in preparing chromium based derivatives.
Sodium dichromate is used in metal passivation and finds applications across diverse industries including pigments and coatings, screen printing in photographic engraving, electroplating, pyrotechnics and explosives.
As a wood preservative, Sodium Dichromate protects wood from termites and fungi while in metal treatment it works as a corrosion inhibitor.
Sodium dichromate is also used in pigment preparations like chrome oxide green and lead chromate.
A sodium salt, Na2Cr2O7, in which chromium atoms are in the plus-7 valence state.
Sodium dichromate is an oxidizing agent and has multiple industrial uses.
Sodium dichromate is used in pigment manufacturing, metal treating, and oil-well drilling.
Other sodium dichromate applications include use in many organic syntheses, preparation of colored glasses and glazes, and preparation of other chromium compounds.

Uses :

Apart from Sodium dichromates importance for the production of other chromium products, sodium dichromate also has many uses as an ingredient in the production of the following materials:

-Metallic Finish: Sodium dichromate helps to prevent corrosion, making it easier to clean the metallic surfaces and allows the paint to stick.
-Organic products: Sodium dichromate used as oxidisers for the production of vitamin K and wax.
-Pigments: Sodium dichromate is used in making inorganic chromate pigments where it produces a range of light-stable colours.
 Some grades of chromate are used for the prevention of corrosion in undercoats and primers.
-Ceramics: Sodium dichromate is used to produce coloured glass and ceramic glaze.
-Textiles: Sodium dichromate is used as a mordant in the acidic dyes to improve colour-fast properties.
-Sodium dichromate is used in the chromium sulphate production.

Main uses for sodium dichromate are surface treatment and leather tanning.
Sodium dichromate is also used as a strong oxidant in organic chemistry, as a corrosion inhibitor, in inks, dyes and pigments.
In surface treatment, sodium dichromate is used for passivation on stainless steel, steel and aluminum in acid baths.

Used in water treatment, dye and electric battery manufacturing, bleaching (fats, oils, sponges, and resins), refining petroleum, corrosion inhibitors (paints, metal coatings, and water systems), metal treatments, electroengraving of copper, defoliation of cotton and other plants and shrubs, fungicides, insecticides, miticides, wood preservation, glass colorants, dye mordants, and breweries (algaecide);
Used in colorimetry (copper determination), as a complexing agent, and as an oxidation inhibitor in ethyl ether;
Used to make vitamin K and waxes;
Compared with sodium dichromate dihydrate, Sodium dichromate has the advantage of first absorbing 2 molecules of water instead of deliquescing immediately.

Oxidizing agent in manufacture of dyes, many other synthetic organic chemicals, inks, etc.; in chrome-tanning of hides; in electric batteries;
bleaching fats, oils, sponges, resins; refining petroleum; manufacturing chromic acid, other chromates and chrome pigments;
in corrosion-inhibitors, corrosion-inhibiting paints; in many metal treatments; electroengraving of copper; mordant in dyeing;
for hardening gelatin; for the defoliation of cotton plantsand other plants and shrubs.

Sodium dichromate is mainly used as a chemical intermediate in the production of other chromium compounds.
