SODIUM OCTYL SULFATE

SODIUM OCTYL SULFATE

CAS NO.: 142-31-4
EC/LIST NO.: 205-535-5

Sodium octyl sulfate has been used in a study to assess selective enrichment of albumin in biological samples.
Sodium octyl sulfate has also been used in a study to investigate the behavior of mixed solution of a glycerin-modified cationic surfactant and an anionic surfactant.

Sodium octyl sulfate is an anionic detergent and ion pairing reagent that is used in HPLC

sodium octyl sulfate belongs to the class of organic compounds known as sulfuric acid monoesters.
These are organic compounds containing the sulfuric acid monoester functional group, with the generic structure ROS(O)(=O)=O, (R=organyl group).
Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on sodium octyl sulfate.

Sodium octyl sulfate can be analyzed by this reverse phase (RP) HPLC method with simple conditions.
The mobile phase contains an acetonitrile (MeCN), water, and phosphoric acid.
For Mass-Spec (MS) compatible applications the phosphoric acid needs to be replaced with formic acid.
Smaller 3 µm particles columns available for fast UPLC applications.
This liquid chromatography method is scalable and can be used for isolation impurities in preparative separation.
Sodium octyl sulfate also suitable for pharmacokinetics.

Sodium octyl sulfate has also been used in a study to investigate the behavior of mixed solution of a glycerin-modified cationic surfactant and an anionic surfactant.

Sodium n-octyl sulfate is a useful chemical to study the selective enrichment of albumin in biological samples and to determine the mixed solution of a glycerin-modified cationic surfactant and an anionic surfactant.
Sodium octyl sulfate is also used as wetting agent, detergent, dispersant, emulsifier, degreasing agent, hard surface cleaner, lime soap dispersant, alkaline detergent, cleaning agent for metal processing in electroplating, latex, metal processing, paper, polymer synthesis, textile, leather and other industries.
Sodium octyl sulfate finds application as an anionic detergent and ion -pairing reagent used in high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC).

Sodium octyl sulfate are primarily used as wool-washing agents and as active ingredients in laundry detergents;
Also used in various personal care products (i.e. toothpastes, shampoos, and cosmetics), in some foods, for froth flotation in pharmaceuticals, pigment dispersion, in a range of cleaning products, fire fighting foams, emulsifiers for insecticides, and for making printing inks; [OECD SIDS] Permitted for use as an inert ingredient in non-food pesticide products;
