STEARAMIDOPROPYL DIMETHYLAMINE

Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine is an ingredient in some types of hair conditioner.
Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine has antistatic, emulsifying, hair conditioning, and surfactant properties.
Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine is water soluble, readily biodegradable, and mildly toxic to aquatic life.

Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine is a fatty mine salt, used as a hair care ingredient used as a conditioning and anti-static agent in shampoos and conditioners, and is also sometimes used for its luminescent, pearl-like properties.
Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine serves in some cases as a mild detergent that can remove hair build-up.
When seen as a surfactant, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine is at concentrations much lower than typical shampoo levels (1% vs 12%) and is considered a mild alternative to other harsher cleansers, according to The Beauty Brains.

Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine is derived from vegetable oil, and, like silicones, is used to keep oils and waters properly blended.
Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine also binds to the hair well, which is considered an advantage, because Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine can keep static frizz and fly-aways down throughout the day.
Many people find that Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine falls short of the detangling and softening provided by silicone, but it does a decent job.
So, Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine was developed to serve as a replacement.
Ironically, not all manufacturers were ready to give up silicones entirely, and simply added Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine along with the original surfactant.

Use
Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine is an excellent emulsifier and softener.
Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine can effectively improve the dry and wet combability of hair, especially suitable for silicone-free toiletries.
Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine can be dissolved in the formula at about 80 °C, or can be added into the formulation with an aqueous solution of citric acid.
Stearamidopropyl Dimethylamine can be dissolved in a surfactant such as 6501 and then added to shampoo.
