STEARETH-100

CAS Number: 9005-00-9
Molecular Formula: C58H118O21

Steareth-100 is a polyethylene glycol ether of Stearyl Alcohol (q.v.).

Steareth-100 as surfactant is used for skin and hair-cleaning purposes and as emulsifier and solubilizing agent in cosmetics and Hair Colorants.
Steareth-100 functions as a "wash-out" component in Developers and Hair Colorants, means Steareth-100 helps to remove all residues after a Hair Color application.

Use of Steareth-100:
Cosmetics - Gel forming; Surfactant

Cosmetic action of Steareth-100:
Washing substance, removes impurities from the surface of the hair and skin.

Functions of Steareth-100:
Steareth-100 acts as a solubilizer, i.e. Steareth-100 enables the introduction of substances that are insoluble or sparingly soluble in water into the aqueous solution, e.g. fragrances, plant extracts, fatty substances.
Steareth-100 is also used as an auxiliary emulsifier in O/W emulsions.

Is a fatty alcohol used as a surfactant, cleansing agent, and viscosity controlling agent in personal care products.

Gelling agent: Gives the consistency of a gel to a liquid preparation

Surfactant: Reduces the surface tension of cosmetics and contributes to the even distribution of Steareth-100 during use

STEARETH-100 is classified as:
Gel forming
Surfactant

Storage of Steareth-100:
Keep container tightly closed.
Store in dry, cool place, and protect from moisture.

Security of Steareth-100:
Ingredient safety
Steareth-100 has no toxic effect and is safe for use in cosmetics

Pure Substance Safety of Steareth-100:
Not classified as a dangerous substance according to chemical regulations
