FIRST AID
Inhalation:
Move the affected person to fresh air if processing fumes or decomposition products have been inhaled.
Obtain medical attention if coughing, headache, dizziness, or breathing discomfort persists.
Skin Contact:
Wash the skin with soap and water after ordinary contact.
Cool thermally burned skin with water and obtain medical treatment without removing adhered molten polymer.
Eye Contact:
Rinse cautiously with clean water if dust, particles, or fumes enter the eyes.
Obtain medical attention if irritation or foreign-body discomfort continues.
Ingestion:
Rinse the mouth and obtain medical advice after significant accidental ingestion.
Do not induce vomiting unless instructed by medical personnel.
Note to Physicians:
Treat symptomatically and provide supportive care.
Consider thermal burns or exposure to rubber-processing fumes rather than polymer volatility.
HANDLING AND STORAGE
Handling:
Use safe bale-cutting and material-feeding procedures and avoid contact with hot rubber.
Control fumes, dust from compounding ingredients, and mechanical hazards during processing.
Ventilation:
Provide local exhaust at mixers, mills, extruders, curing presses, and other heated operations.
Use suitable respiratory protection when processing-fume exposure cannot be adequately controlled.
Storage:
Store in a cool, dry, covered area protected from sunlight, moisture, heat, flames, and strong oxidizers.
Keep the bales in their original wrapping and prevent contamination by oils, chemicals, dirt, or metal fragments.
Spill and Leak Procedures:
Collect solid pieces mechanically and return clean material to an approved process or waste container.
Avoid allowing loose wrapping film or rubber pieces to create slip, trip, or machinery hazards.
Handling Precautions:
Do not exceed the supplier’s recommended storage period or processing temperature.
