tallamide DEA (INCI)

Tallamide DEA is a nonionic surfactant commonly used as a detergency booster, anticorrosive and skin-protective agent in industrial degreasing and cleaning agents, such as engine cleaners.
Furthermore, Tallamide DEA serves as an agent providing for enhanced scourability and rinsability of water-free oils and hydraulic fluids.

Tallamide DEA can also form a component of aqueous emulsions for metal cutting and non-corrosive working fluids.

Tallamide DEA is also an ingredient in fabric conditioners and personal care products such as shampoos, conditioners or water-free soaps.

Its antistatic, anticorrosive and emulsifying properties are made use of in coatings, rubber and oil industries as well as emulsion polymerization.

Tallamide DEA is used as lubricant, solvent, emulsifier, and performance extender for corrosion inhibitors in high velocity gas, oil or water drilling, production or gathering applications.
Tallamide DEA is formed by the reaction and distillation of a tall oil fatty acid with a fatty alkanolamide

Like other fatty acid diethanolamides, Tallamide DEA is widely used in cosmetics as an emollient, thickener, and foam stabilizer and is present in approximately 121 cosmetic formulations of bath additives, shampoos, conditioners, lipsticks, and hair dyes.
In these formulations, the concentration of diethanolamide ranges from 0.1% to 25% (NTP, 1999).

Other applications of Tallamide DEA include use as a surfactant in bar soaps, light-duty detergents, and dishwashing detergents.

Tallamide DEA is readily biodegradable, has a moderate potential to sorb to sediments and soil, and a low potential to bioaccumulate.
