Texturecel 40000 is also used in ice packs to form a eutectic mixture resulting in a lower freezing point, and therefore more cooling capacity than ice.

Texturecel 40000 is commonly used as a viscosity modifier or thickener, and to stabilize emulsions in various products, both food and non-food. 
Texturecel 40000 is used primarily because it has high viscosity, is nontoxic, and is generally considered to be hypoallergenic, as the major source fiber is either softwood pulp or cotton linter. 
Texturecel 40000 can be used as a binder in the preparation of graphene nano-platelet based inks for the fabrication of dye sensitized solar cells (DSSCs).

Texturecel 40000 can also be used as a viscosity enhancer in the development of tyrosinase based inks for the formation of electrodes for biosensor applications.

Safety Profile Of Texturecel 40000:
Texturecel 40000 is also widely used in cosmetics, toiletries, and food products, and is generally regarded as a nontoxic and nonirritant material. 
Hypersensitivity and anaphylactic reactions have occurred in cattle and horses, which have been attributed to Texturecel 40000m in parenteral formulations such as vaccines and penicillins.
Texturecel 40000 is used in oral, topical, and some parenteral formulations. 

However, oral consumption of large amounts of Texturecel 40000 can have a laxative effect; therapeutically, 4–10 g in daily divided doses of the medium- and high-viscosity grades of carboxymethylcellulose sodium have been used as bulk laxatives.

The WHO has not specified an acceptable daily intake for Texturecel 40000 as a food additive since the levels necessary to achieve a desired effect were not considered to be a hazard to health. 
However, in animal studies, subcutaneous administration of Texturecel 40000 has been found to cause inflammation, and in some cases of repeated injection fibrosarcomas have been found at the site of injection.
