Thiodipropionic acid (3,3'-Thiobispropanoic acid) is a dicarboxylic acid.
Thiodipropionic acid is a white crystalline solid having a slight characteristic odour.
Thiodipropionic acid  is a carboxylic acid also known as Bis(2-carboxyethyl) sulfide.
Thiodipropionic Acid is a dicarboxylic acid that contains a sulfur group.

Dilauryl Thiodipropionate, Dicetyl Thiodipropionate, Dimyristyl Thiodipropionate, Distearyl Thiodipropionate and Ditridecyl Thiodipropionate are diester derivatives of Thiodipropionic Acid with similar functions.
This means that there is one carbon chain (with a chain length of 12 to 18 carbons) attached to each oxygen of the carboxyl groups.

Among these ingredients, Thiodipropionic Acid and Dilauryl Thiodipropionate are most common in cosmetics and personal care products including eye and face makeup products, and skin care preparations.
Thiodipropionic Acid or Thiodipropanoic acid is a dicarboxylic acid with the condensed structural formula S(CH2CH2COOH)2.
Thiodipropionic Acid is also a thioether , bis(2-carboxyethyl) sulfide.

Thiodipropionic acid derived from the processing of phosphate rocks, Thiodipropionic acid is used as a food additive , E388 as an antioxidant .
Thiodipropionic Acid (TDPA) is a high purity, free flowing white powder without caking tendency.
The water solution of Thiodipropionic Acid is colorless and the transparency is very high.
Classification:    Dicarboxylic acids and derivatives

USES and APPLICATIONS of THIODIPROPIONIC ACID:
-Thiodipropionic acid is an organic disulfide that can be used as a ligand for the synthesis of cadminum and zinc coordination polymers with luminescent properties.
-Thiodipropionic acid for synthesis.
-Cosmetic Uses:    skin conditioning

-Thiodipropionic acid was used as a reactant to synthesize bis(phenylacetamidothiadiazolyl)ethyl sulfide analogs as glutaminase inhibitors and antitumor agents.
-Thiodipropionic acid can also be used as precursor substrate for synthesis of 3-mercaptopropionic acid (M257070) containing polythioesters.

-Acid-based synthetic antioxidant.
-In theory, and when stably packaged, Thiodipropionic acid  should exert an antioxidant effect when applied topically.
-Antioxidant for soap products and polymers of ethylene.
-In plasticizers and lubricants.
-Proposed for edible fats, oils, other foods.

-Thiodipropionic acid is used as an antioxidant in cosmetic and food products.
-Why is Thiodipropionic acid used in cosmetics and personal care products?
Thiodipropionic acid and Thiodipropionic acid's derivatives prevent or slow the deterioration of cosmetic and personal care products by inhibiting reactions that occur through contact with oxygen in the air.
-Thiodipropionic acid reduces the oxidation of soybean oil , olive oil and palm oil , and also prevents the breakdown of vitamin E in these oils.

-Thiodipropionic acid is a halal , kosher and vegetarian antioxidant.
-Antioxidant in food packaging, soaps, plasticizers, lubricants, fats, and oils.
-Thiodipropionic acid is an antioxidant used to prevent fats and oils from going rancid.
Thiodipropionic acid has the same functionality as bha, bht, and propyl gallate.

-Thiodipropionic acid is used as an antioxidant for fats and other foodstuffs.
-Thiodipropionic acid is used as iThiodipropionic acid is, after neutralization to make alkaline metal salt and after esterfication to make esters.
-Thiodipropionic acid’s an antioxidant, and used in the production of thioesters antioxidant.

-Thiodipropionic acid can be used in ubricating oil and rubber.
-Thiodipropionic acid can be used in combination with phenollic antioxidant to produce synergistic effect.
-Thiodipropionic acid was used as a reactant to synthesize bis(phenylacetamidothiadiazolyl)ethyl sulfide analogs as glutaminase.
