Tylose MH 30000 YP4 and Tylose HEC types are water-soluble cellulose ethers, produced from cellulose.
Cellulose ethers are manly used as thickeners, binders, water retaining agents and dispersing agents.
There are more than 200 different Tylose products for many applications, whose end products can be found in almost all areas of every day life.
The most important fields of application for Tylose are as additives for building and coating materials.
In building materials, for example, Tylose enables the use of machine applied plasters and guarantees a highly efficient application on ceilings and walls.
Tylose MH 30000 YP4 prevents the sedimentation of coatings and allows an even, almost spatter-free application of the paint.

In building material systems Tylose MH 30000 YP4 controls the water retention and the consistency, whilst at the same time Tylose MH 30000 YP4 products increase the homogeneity  and stability of all types of mortar.
To achieve this only very small addition rates are required.
The most important fields of application for Tylose MH 30000 YP4 are adhesives, renders and trowelling compounds.

Technically, the most important property of Tylose MH 30000 YP4 is its capability to increase the viscosity of liquids and thus to act as a thickener. 
The thickening effect of Tylose strongly depends on its concentration (depicted in the diagram below). 

Furthermore, the influence of the degree of polymerisation (shown in the form of different viscosity levels) on the thickening effect of Tylose MH 30000 YP4 can be clearly seen. 
With all other parameters constant, the viscosity of Tylose solutions increases with an increasing viscosity level.

Tylose MH 30000 YP4 is a water-soluble, non-ionic, methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose powder with standard etherification. 
Tylose MH 30000 YP4 provides increased biostability, low gloss appearance, good anti-spattering properties, and high thickening effects and water retention. 
This grade of methyl hydroxyethyl cellulose (MHEC) is ideal for use in cement paints, exterior paints, and silicone resin paints.

Tylose MH 30000 YP4 is a gelling and thickening agent derived from cellulose. 
Tylose MH 30000 YP4 is widely used in cosmetics, cleaning solutions, and other household products. 
Tylose MH 30000 YP4 and methyl cellulose are frequently used with hydrophobic drugs in capsule formulations, to improve the drugs' dissolution in the gastrointestinal fluids.
Tylose MH 30000 YP4 is known as hydrophilization.

Tylose MH 30000 YP4 is also used extensively in the oil & gas industry as a drilling mud additive under the name Tylose MH 30000 YP4 as well in industrial applications, paint & coatings, ceramics, adhesives, emulsion polymerization, inks, construction, welding rods, pencils and joint fillers.

Tylose MH 30000 YP4 is one of the main ingredients in the personal lubricant KY Jelly. 
Tylose MH 30000 YP4 is also a key ingredient in the formation of big bubbles as it possesses the ability to dissolve in water but also provide structural strength to the soap bubble.
