E494 (Sorbitan Monooleate) is a nonionic emulsifier and surfactant and used in cosmetics and foods. 
E494 (Sorbitan Monooleate) is a food additive with the E number E495. 
E494 (Sorbitan Monooleate) was suitable as surfactant in the preparation of Poly(divinylbenzene) emulsion-derived (PolyHIPE) solid foam.

E494 (Sorbitan Monooleate) is approved by FDA to be used as an emulsifier in polymer dispersions that are used in the clarification of cane or beet sugar juice or liquor in an amount not to exceed 7.5 percent by weight in the final polymer dispersion. 
The additive is used in an amount not to exceed 0.70 part per million in sugar juice and 1.4 parts per million in sugar liquor.

An emulsifier E494 (Sorbitan Monooleate) is used as a lipophillic non-ionic surfactant, emulsifier, stabilizer for oil based lotions, ointments, in textiles as antistat, lubricant for fabric softener, sweetening agent, food additive, toothpaste, tobacco, toiletries and in cosmetics. 
E494 (Sorbitan Monooleate) serves as a dispersant in oil field chemicals and as a corrosion Inhibitor. 
Further, it plays as an important role as excipient and intravenous osmotic diuretic in pharmaceutical fields.


E494 (Sorbitan Monooleate) is a viscous yellow liquid which is used as an emulsifier for water/oil emulsions. E494 (Sorbitan Monooleate) is a nonionic surfactant with good wetting properties.
