EMULSOGEN SF 8

CAS Number: 577-11-7
EC Number: 209-406-4

EMULSOGEN SF 8 is anionic emulsifier and wetting agent
EMULSOGEN SF 8 is used as anionic emulsifier for the emulsion polymerization of E-PVC.

EMULSOGEN SF 8 is an APEO-free sodium di (2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate in aqueous solution.
EMULSOGEN SF 8 acts as a wetting agent.

EMULSOGEN SF 8 enhances tinting strength and offers improved stability for organic pigments.
This colorless, clear to cloudy liquid is soluble in water.

EMULSOGEN SF 8 is used in waterborne emulsion paints and coatings with low VOC contents of less than 1% (recommended dosage between 0.3% and 0.6%).
The dosage of EMULSOGEN SF 8 varies between 0.1 and 0.3 % based on the formulation.
EMULSOGEN SF 8 complies with FDA regulations and is listed in AICS, DSL, EINECS, ENCS, IECSC, KECI, NECI, NZloC, PICCS and TSCA.

EMULSOGEN SF 8 is an anionic emulsifier and wetting agent.
This cloudy liquid is composed of sodium di(2-ethylhexyl) sulfosuccinate in water.

EMULSOGEN SF 8 can be used as a wetting agent for emulsion polymers, e.g. SBLatex for carpet coating.
EMULSOGEN SF 8 can also be used as a cake dewatering aide and as a wetting agent for aqueous, VOC-free paints and coatings.

EMULSOGEN SF 8 is an aqueous solution of a dioctyl sulfosuccinate and is mainly used as anionic wetting agent.

Performance of EMULSOGEN SF 8 in emulsion polymerization:
EMULSOGEN SF 8 improves stability of the monomer emulsion,
EMULSOGEN SF 8 enables low coagulum formation during polymerization,
EMULSOGEN SF 8 controls the particle size of the polymer dispersion,
EMULSOGEN SF 8 improves viscosity of the polymer dispersions.

Uses of EMULSOGEN SF 8:

EMULSOGEN SF 8 is used in following applications:
As Wetting agent for general purposes.
As foaming agent for carpet back sizing with e.g. SB-Latexes.

As wetting agent for waterborne paints and coatings with low VOC contents.
As wetting agents for textile applications. The dosage of EMULSOGEN SF 8 varies between 0.1 – 0.3 % based on the formulation.

As tinting strength enhancer and stabilizer for organic pigments in emulsion paints.
Recommended dosage for emulsion paints: 0,3 – 0,6%.

Benefits of EMULSOGEN SF 8:

The use of EMULSOGEN SF 8 offers the following advantages:
Low VOC
Free of alkylphenol ethoxylates (APEO)
Readily biodegradable
Easy to handle
FDA approved

Handling and Storage of EMULSOGEN SF 8:
Below 10 °C EMULSOGEN SF 8 turns to a cloudy, viscous gel and a phase separation occurs.
After heating to 25°C and mixing with a propeller stirrer the product is ready for use.

During stirring EMULSOGEN SF 8 turns from a cloudy and a clear solution.
These characteristics are for guidance only and are not to be taken as product specifications.

The tolerances are given in the product specification sheet.
For further information on product properties, toxicological, ecological and safety data, please refer to the safety data sheet.
