Genamin KDMP by Clariant is a behenyl trimethyl ammonium chloride.
GENAMIN KDMP acts as cationic surfactant and conditioning agent.
GENAMIN KDMP offers good antistatic effect, good softening effect, good wet combing and boosts volume.
Genamin KDMP is used in hair conditioner.
Genamin KDMP is a cationic surfactant that is mainly used in cream-type hair conditioners and hair replenishing treatments.
The concentration required depends on the hair.
The more damaged the hair is, the more Genamin KDMP will be used to achieve best effect.
Genamin KDMP is a cationic surfactant that is mainly used in cream-type hair conditioners and hair replenishing treatments.
GENAMIN KDMP is a cationic surfactant, which is mainly used in cream-type hair conditioners, hair supplements and hair filling products.
The required concentration depends on the quality of the hair.
GENAMIN KDMP has mild bactericidal properties.
Genamine KDMP is a cationic surfactant most commonly used in hair care products.
The component is concentrated on the surface of the hair along with film-forming, nutritional, vitamin and other additives, contributing to the deep penetration of these substances.
By reducing surface resistance, GENAMIN KDMP makes hair more manageable and prevents hair from flying apart after combing.
It is allowed to inject Genamin KDMP together with other cationic surfactants to achieve a mild effect.
GENAMIN KDMP is also compatible with non-ionic surfactants.
Compatibility studies have shown good results in combination with most film-forming components, which allows you to create smoothing shampoos and balms with a laminating effect.
Cosmetic properties
• Removes static stress;
• Improves combability;
• Promotes the absorption of nutrients into the hair;
• Softens coarse and unruly hair;
• Eliminates damage and split ends.
Scope of application
Genamin KDMP is recommended to be added to additional hair care products, in addition to shampoos:
• Air conditioners;
• Means for lamination;
• Balms for hair damaged by dyeing and perm;
• Styling gels;
• Leave-in and rinse-off lotions and sprays;
• Fixatives for permanent waving.
applications
The component has high stability in a wide pH range, including in alkaline media.
It is recommended to introduce GENAMIN KDMP into the fatty or aqueous phase.
Features of introduction into the aqueous phase: first, the aqueous part, hydrophobic emulsifier, thickener are mixed, and the necessary oils are melted at a temperature of 75 to 80⁰С.
Genamin KDMP is dissolved with stirring in the aqueous phase at a temperature of about 75°C, and this phase is introduced into the fatty phase with stirring.
When the emulsion cools down to 35⁰С, you can add fragrances and actives.
Features of introduction into the fatty phase: Genamin KDMP melts together with oils, hydrophilic emulsifiers and thickeners.
The separately heated aqueous phase is introduced into the oil phase.
The input rate is 0.5-2% of the volume of the active substance, and not of the volume of the final product.
The more damage to the hair, the more the component is required.

Uses
Genamin KDMP is used mainly in cream-type hair conditioners and hair replenishing treatments.
GENAMIN KDMP is also suitable for skin care preparations.
The concentration required depends on the hair.
The more damaged the hair is the more Genamin KDMP will be used to achieve best effects, starting at about 0.5% up to 2.0%, relative to the active substance.
Other possible applications are in the manufacture of antistatic fixatives for permanent waving, hair lotions, shampoos and styling creams.
Applications
As a cationic surfactant, Genamin KDMP is adsorbed onto negatively charged surfaces without leaving a visible film, for example on the hair.
Because of this and its associated properties, Genamin KDMP is especially suitable as an active ingredient for hair cosmetics.
Genamin KDMP offers a superb softening effect for thick and hard to manage hair.
The antistatic effect of Genamin KDMP is also noteworthy.
Application properties
Genamin KDMP is adsorbed onto the hair from aqueous and alcoholic solutions as well as from emulsions (dispersions) also in combination with other additives, such as film-forming agents and fatty components, and, because of the reduction in surface resistance, it prevents the hair flying after combing.
Hair damaged by bleaching, permanent waving or excessive degreasing tends to mat.
Genamin KDMP, used in cream after-treatment preparations, considerably improves the wet combing properties and greatly improves the condition of the hair.
Compatibility
Genamin KDMP can be used in combination with other cationic surfactants to allow special effects with regards to wet and dry combing properties and the feel of the shampooed hair.
Genamin KDMP is compatible with non-ionic surfactants.
GENAMIN KDMP reacts with anionic surfactants by forming electroneutral salts; most of these are only sparingly soluble in water but stable solutions can be obtained by using an excess of an anionic compound.
No signs of incompatibility were observed with mixtures consisting of Genamin KDMP and commercial film-forming agents such as polyvinyl pyrrolidone, PVA and PVP/VA.
pH stability
As a quaternary ammonium salt Genamin KDMP possesses excellent stability over a wide pH range.
GENAMIN KDMP differs from tertiary amines in that the cation persists also in alkaline medium.
Solubility
Genamin KDMP is soluble in warm water but after cooling down Genamin KDMP precipitates.
Processing instructions
Genamin KDMP can be incorporated to both, the aqueous or the oil phase.
Introducing Genamin KDMP via the aqueous phase:
A hydrophobic emulsifier, e.g. Plantasens Emulsifier DGI (INCI: Polyglyceryl- 2 Sesquiisostearate), the consistency modifier and any oils used are melted at 75–80°C.
Genamin KDMP is dispersed in the aqueous phase while stirring andheating to approx. 75 °C.
Than the heated water phase is added to the melted oil phase while stirring.
Active substances and perfume oils should be added only after the mixture has cooled down to about 35°C.
Introducing Genamin® KDMP via the oil phase:
Genamin KDMP is melted together at 75 – 80°C with a hydrophilic emulsifier, e.g. Hostaphat KL 340 D (INCI: Trilaureth-4 Phosphate), the consistency modifier and any oils used.
The aqueous phase is heated separately to the same temperature and added while stirring the melted quat/consistency modifier/oil phase.
Active substances and perfume oils should be added only after the mixture has cooled down to about 35°C.

Storage instructions
Usual protection measurements are necessary because of the isopropanol included.
The product must be protected from direct sunlight and temperatures above 40 °C during storage.
IPA may diffuse out of the pellets during storage time with inhomogeneous sampling - different analytical results as a consequence.
Further information on handling, storage and dispatch is given in the EC safety data sheet.
